Bodycam shows Milwaukee Police officers jumping on the roof of a building approaching #JerrySmithJr., believing he was armed. Smith Jr., 19, was shot on a rooftop after a short chase by police. Smith survived the shooting. He was unarmed. He was holding a cellphone, according to the legal team representing him. We are now going to fight to make sure he gets some semblance of justice. The city fought for over a year to make sure this video was never released. Jerry was unarmed and non-violent. He put his hands out as they asked. He clearly has nothing in his hands. And as you will see, started to get on the ground as they asked. And as he started betting on the ground, the police unloaded on him. The shooting paralyzed Jerry from the waist down. And somehow the Milwaukee County District Attorney said this shooting “was justified.” We say no. The DA needs to make a different decision on this case.
