Sometimes my body will just start jerking, like a normal spine shiver but really intense and it comes in waves. I've tried talking to doctors about it but apparently there's nothing out of the ordinary so it's likely just an extreme response or something but when it happens I still get a little scared and sometimes it'll end up leading into an anxiety attack. Do you have any suggestions for ways I could help calm myself down in these times since I can't really do much physicially? ~Que
Hi lovely,
I kinda understand what you mean I think. Sometimes my bodydoes something like that randomly evenwhen I’m not doing anything. It sometimes happens when I’m really cold as welllike shivering. Mine only really happens for a few seconds though and althoughit does feel weird as it comes on sudden it never causes me to have an anxietyattack.
It’s understandable though why it causes you anxiety as itdoes sound scary and can feel scary when it happens. I’m glad you have triedtalking to doctors about it though and that it isn’t anything serious or toworry about as that can be helpful and reassuring. If it keeps happening thoughor keeps happening regularly then I would go back and ask to see another doctorjust to double check and make sure it isn’t anything to be worried or concernedabout.
There are ways of helping to relieve your anxiety and helpyou to calm down and relax when it does happen and causes an anxiety attackthough. I think deep breathing can help a lot as it can help you to relax asyou concentrate on your breathing as it distracts you from your thoughts andthe anxiety. You can look at our calming anxiety and panic page here for moretips of helping to relieve anxiety. You tube has lots of videos on hypnosis, relaxation and guided meditation designed to help reduce anxiety and calm youdown. If you have an iphone or android, you could download SAMApp which isincludes self help for anxiety as it has things like an anxiety tracker, ananxiety toolkit and help for anxiety on it. You could also see if there is ayoga class you could try attending in your area as yoga is especially good forhelping to reduce stress and anxiety.
I hope this helps and try not to let it bother you too much.Message us if you need anything else.
Stay strong <3
