Commander Jeffery Sinclair (played by Michael O’Hare)

First - Sinclair was originally supposed to be in the later season more than he was. While filming season 1 his mental health took a sharp decline.He got treatment after S1 wrapped and was diagnosed with schizophrenia. He told JMS who said he’d take that info to the grave. O’Hare said - no just to mine. Once I’m gone please tell the fans I left the show. So that’s what JMS did.

Now:

Thoughts on Sinclair: He was infinitely better suited to be charge of a Space Airport than Sheridan. He always seemed like he had a plan, even if he was making it up. He also did his best to be neutral around the Minbari, which can’t have been easy considering he was in the Battle of the Line.

The whole wibbly wobbly timey whimey process to get him back to take B4 back in time so he could announce himself as Valen was a lot but it also made sense.

I think he’d have been sad when Garibaldi relapsed but I think if he’d been there the drinking problem would have been noticed sooner.

It’s a dream given form.  Our last best hope for words.  Or one hundred of them, anyway.  It’s the Babylon 5 Drabble Project!

Londo is excited about this!  And so am I!

Sheridan has some questions.

1. What is a drabble?  A drabble is a mini-fic that is EXACTLY 100 words long.  Not 99.  Not 101.  100.  Having to meet this exact number specification is a great practice tool for writers because it is an exercise in both brevity and diction.  The end result is often poignant or funny, a glimpse into a moment in time of the lives of our beloved characters.  They usually have titles, but they don’t have to.

2. What is the Babylon 5 Drabble Project?  The project will involve writing drabbles from a series of prompts.  First, I’m going to ask all of you to submit prompts (generally just one or two words), which I’ll assemble into a master list.  Then, at intervals (I’ll probably start with once a month), I’ll post a certain number of them (depending on the number submitted, around 5) as prompts for the month.  You can write as many or as few drabbles as you want (aka you can write on as many of the prompts as you want).  Then, just post them, making sure to use the tag #b5drabbleproject.  You can submit prompts to me at any point (inbox me), but I’ll wait to post the first round for writing until I get a list of several.

3. What are the rules of the Project?

-Rule #1: BE NICE.  No pooping in other people’s Fruit Loops.  If somebody wants to write about two characters smooching who you don’t think should be smooching, that doesn’t give you the right to be mean to that person or make negative comments about their work or views.  People work really hard on their writing, even when it’s only 100 words, so keep your comments NICE.  Be nice to all participants, be nice to yourself, just basically be nice to everyone.  (Exception: you don’t necessarily have to be nice to the characters.  Because if y’all have ever read my fanfictions, you know just how much I looooooove to be mean to the B5 characters...one in particular...)

-Rule #2: No NSFW.  Mainly, I really don’t want to read about nekkid Minbari or Vir’s tentacle dicks (can I get off this example train now?  I regret so many things) or anything of that nature.  If you are unhappy with this, feel free to start your own B5 NSFW drabble collective.  No judgement.  Just here is not the place.

-Rule #3: Tag your triggers.  (Basically, see Rule #1.)

...And that’s actually everything I can think of.  Things might adjust as time goes on and I learn what works and what doesn’t.  PLEASE REBLOG THIS POST SO OTHER B5 PEOPLE GET THE WORD ABOUT THIS!  The more the merrier!  Also let me know if you guys have questions.  Really the goal is just to write drabbles about B5, because...
