movie-made/ forget me until you can like me enough
Your green screen turns blue
and you wrap your wet shillouette in the illusion to keep
from the cold
sky of broken people. We are reciting lines
with a backdrop setting the scene. I want to run with scissors into the green
paradise. My back is cracked and I believe
in far-off realities. Do you believe in me?
Like a parade, alive and loud for
a few blocks. How far away did you park?
Did it hurt when you walked through my door?
I want to believe in co-existence of black and color. You want hot
summer and a place to put your fresh song. Who will I return to?
I don’t want to leave. If I do, it will happen fast.
Let’s never say goodbye. Let’s spend the night under the music and confetti
and sneak out of each other’s houses until we
forget our humility. Humanity looks good on you. I only see
it when the glass breaks. When the screen rips. When the glamour
is unscripted.
