“Y/N’s not here yet,” Kiara said when John B. walked towards the van.

“Do you know when she’ll be here?” he asked her.

“About two minutes,” Kiara replied.

The group waited patiently for you to arrive because you had all planned on driving around the island to find a good spot for a picnic. Kiara suggested a chill day with no adventure in sight and you were more than keen on jumping in on that idea. The others boys needed to be convinced, but you gave your best puppy dog eyes to John B. and he caved.

It wasn’t like there wasn’t something between the both of you. There was definitely a something. But neither of you bothered to say anything and here he was, overthinking it. Neither of the other Pogues had said anything to either of you, but they shared knowing looks with one another whenever the two of you would do something couple-y.

“The woman of the hour!” Pope shouted as you walked towards the other four. John B. took the time to soak you in. You wore loose high waisted jeans, an old t-shirt you had stolen from him a month prior and...glasses?

The thin frames sat comfortably on the bridge of your nose and emphasized your eyeshape nicely. You looked more refined, more polished, almost like you weren’t a Pogue. You looked more mature despite wearing a ratty old shirt and jeans covered in paint and other debris you couldn’t wash out.

“Woah, you got glasses?” JJ asked, reaching for them. You slapped his hand away.

“I usually wear contacts but I ran out. My mom’s picking some up this afternoon.” Nobody said anything after. You climbed into the back with Kiara and John B., who had let Pope drive and JJ sit shotgun.

John B. couldn’t stop staring at you.

“What?” you asked, looking at him. You touched your face and tried to feel for something. “Do I have something on my face?”

“What? No!” John B. said abruptly. “You look really cute in glasses.” A blush became apparent on the apples of your cheeks.

“Oh,” you said, bashfully, “Thanks, John B.”

Feeling confident, you overcame your irrational fear of people making fun of you with glasses on and learned to use your contacts sparingly.

John B. never failed to mention how good you looked with your glasses on and you never got tired of hearing it.
