straight asexual = someone who is romantically attracted to ppl of the opposite sex lol. heteroromantic. abstaining from sex or lacking the desire to engage in it doesn't mean gay/other
yeah except here’s the thing. being trans doesn’t mean you’re gay either, but it’s still included in lgbt. the entirety of the lgbt community is simply made up of non-cishet people. that’s the whole point. aces aren’t heterosexual because they are not sexually attracted to the opposite gender. aros aren’t heteroromantic because they aren’t romantically attracted to the opposite gender.
It might come as a surprise, but straight has always been an umbrella term for all het attraction. The SAM is a lie outside aroace, because *insert*sexual has never been only about sexual attraction, unlike aro/ace that are about an specific part of attraction. Which is why "heteroromantic" is completly redundant and silly.
so if someone is romantically attracted to people of the opposite gender but is pansexual, does that make them “straight” too?
plenty of people have romantic and sexual identities that don’t match up. does this mean that one part of their identity isn’t valid?
if “straight has always been an umbrella term for all het attraction,” then wouldn’t that automatically make aces and aros not straight considering they’re not???? attracted????????? to the opposite gender???????????????
