i feel like largely in media/fiction the Evil Horrible Woman is evil purely because she refutes/undermines the patriarchal family structure and the traditional role of the Woman in it. she's so terrible because she undermines the power of a husband, or a father, or maybe a brother or another male relative. she is horrible because she is a woman with the power Of a husband/father over a child or children, usually young girls. she doesn't conform to traditional, submissive feminine roles; she doesn't obey her husband. she doesn't give up all control to the man counterpart in her life.
so i do kind of love faye ferin for not falling into that trope, at least not so directly. she Is an abusive figure, to jay and to jayson + drey. but, at least to me, it doesn't have the same feeling as. like. the stepmother from cinderella. and she fucking sucks FOR OTHER REALLY COOL REASONS TOO!!!!!
i am absolutely sure there are many ways you could criticize her writing from a feminist/other perspective, but it's just. refreshing to have a woman antagonist who isn't wholly the Abusive Mom Figure. she is THE ADMIRAL OF THE NAVY!! she is touched by the goddess!! she is THE leader of the navy as mana's biggest source of fascist, political unrest, destruction, etc., and of propaganda too!!
(and, from my perspective, it's clear she also isn't the Bad Apple of the Navy. even if she died, if the navy itself wasn't abolished from the roots upward, it would STILL SUCK. it would STILL BE FASCIST and STILL be destructive. she is the face of the face of an overarching system and structure.)
AND SHE'S FUCKING SICK! faye ferin i did not recognize your game at first. you have grown to become a most intriguing and wonderous antagonist in my eyes. THE greatest antagonistic ferin of all time #TRUE. THE most intimidating foe even up against The Nameless Prince #CORRECT.
i love you faye ferin. i am so scared of you and you are like the worst person ever. i love you. please get worse.
