63. "Whatever Happened To The Caped Crusader?”
(Batman Vol 1 686 ; Detective Comics Vol 1 853, April 2009)
RATING: 10 🚕 TERRIFIED VALETS OUT OF 10
Happy Batman Day 2021
This is just phenomenal. There are few other descriptors besides the one that Gaiman himself provides in the preface: this is a love letter to Batman. Not just to Bruce Wayne as a character, but to the conceptual essence of Batman both in fiction and in real life. I was considering to dock some points because there is no way it could ever fit into any version of the canon but then I realized that isn’t the point. I genuinely hope anyone has a chance to read this, especially if you aren’t a fan of the Bat.
FAVORITE: Perpetual Batman Purgatory
LEAST FAVORITE: They show so many characters in the background that I want to know the stories of but because of the short bounds of the story there just isn’t space to do so.
