      “HA! NO WAY! What’s the point in me wearin’ a hat if I’ve gotta worry about it all the time!? It fits my hero aesthetic perfectly, but it’s gotta be convenient or else there’d be no point in having it! See,” he says, gesturing toward the circumference of the hat. He probes it with a single finger, demonstrating that there was very little room to remove it that way. “IT’S PERFECT! This hat’s got a nice grip and it’s really comfortable, so it’s a bit difficult to have it get swept up when I’m using my quirk. I’ve got safety measures though like these goggles –– they kinda help weigh it down so my cap doesn’t just fly off my head. This’ll sound strange, but think of it like a belt for my hat, yeah?” 

      He was proud of his hero costume more than anything, but if there was any consistency between his regular attire and his costume, it would be the Shiketsu cap that he proudly sat upon his head. He had argued to keep it on, regardless if it made more sense to rid himself of a cap with a wind quirk like his. Hero costumes were supposed to fit the style of an individual’s quirk, and he was insistent to make the hat ( or any hat he chose to decorate his costume with ) work, so the other’s question had not been much of a surprise when he had been bombarded with that same question over and over again once he revealed his heroic attire.

        He knows it’s not the best plan he’s come up with ( far from it, in fact ), but in the pursuit of popcorn, he’s willing to get a little singed. This wouldn’t even be happening in the first place had Kaminari not somehow managed to short circuit the microwave right before their first ever ‘class movie night’ rolled around. Admittedly, it might have proved safer ( and simpler ) to ask Yaoyorozu to simply create a new one, but Kirishima didn’t like to take shortcuts, which is exactly how he and Todoroki had ended up like this: preparing to do something undoubtedly stupid and dangerous to boot, but no less fun.

        Todoroki’s deadpan comment catches Kirishima off guard, an abrupt snatch of laughter escaping his lips, “ What’s with the pessimism, man? I mean— what’s the worst that could happen, right? It’s not like your flames are gonna hurt me. Now c’mon— ” He holds his arms out, activating his quirk from the very tips of his fingers all the way up to his shoulders, hands cupped around a bag of microwaveable popcorn. Kirishima glances up at his classmate, grinning despite his obvious hesitancy. He waves his clasped hands enticingly in front of Todoroki, his voice taking on a cajoling tone, “ I wanna see if this works, don’t you? C’mon, dude! It’ll be fun! ”
