To my lord and saviour who I owe my life to for writing Jane…
Please may I ask of you for something along the lines of helping Jane through a rough patch?
I bite down and bite hard
summary · when nobody else could ever understand jane, you do.
watch out · jane remover, fem!reader, not proofread, no ai used, burnout, literally written at 3:00 am, slight angst, hurt comfort, fluff, softness, vulnerability, requested, sfw, ⋆˚࿔ wrote this whole listening to cage girl / camgirl so you just know its depressing.
it was just another saturday, and to you, it should've looked like just another morning jane'd decided to rest in bed.
but it wasn't.
and it didn't.
you woke up and rubbed your eyes, pupils adjusting to the slightly navy-colored darkness of the room, then glanced at the clock.
4:00 am. it was late. well, early, to be exact.
you turned over only to find jane sitting up against the headboard. she was... staring at something.
not murmuring a sleepy, deep "good morning" to you, not up early trying to finish a song, not even looking over after noticing you'd stirred. just staring.
"... jane?"
no reply.
you sat up fully then, brows knitting as you tried to figure out what was wrong and failed. you swallowed, and then murmured a quiet, careful "what's wrong?"
silence still encompassed the room, but she glanced over. your brows furrowed more until a crease formed between them.
"I just..." she trailed off, "I'm so tired."
"of what, baby?"
"being busy all the time. I feel like if I don't make a song people'll get tired of me, and I hate that because I really don't even want to care about having a fanbase." she rambled on.
"oh jane," your voice softened instantly. you shifted closer without thinking, the mattress dipping under your weight as you reached for her hand beneath the blanket.
she didn't pull away, but she didn't squeeze you back either.
"look at me. please?" you murmured, thumb brushing over her knuckles.
she hesitated before she did. her eyes were glassy in the dim light. they didn't look like she'd been crying, but they were glossy like she'd been staring at the wall for a long time.
"did you sleep at all?" you asked quietly.
a faint shake of her head.
your chest tightened, and you sighed.
she let out a breath that almost sounded like a laugh, but it didn't have any humor in it.
you climbed into her lap without asking, straddling her gently, hands coming up to cradle her face. she startled slightly at the movement, but then her hands instinctively settled at your waist.
"you don't have to deal with everything all by yourself," you whispered.
"I'm not even dealing with it, it's just… weighing, on me." she said quietly.
"okay, then share it with me. talk about it so it's not so heavy." you leaned forward until your forehead rested against hers.
"I don't know how," she confessed, her fingers just barely tightening at your waist.
"that's okay too. you don't have to solve anything right now or tell me about all of it." you slid your hands from her face into her hair, combing your fingers through the messy strands, slow and steady.
she shut her eyes.
you kept going gently.
her forehead stayed pressed to yours like she was anchoring herself there.
after a minute, she sagged just slightly beneath you. her hands slid up from your waist to your back, fingers curling into your shirt like she needed something solid to hold onto.
"I hate when I get like this," she whispered.
"I know."
"it makes me feel… useless."
"you are the least useless person I know." you pulled back just enough to look at her properly.
she almost rolled her eyes at that, but it didn’t land.
"you're allowed to exist without producing something and to just be a random person."
her throat bobbed as she swallowed. you leaned in an d pressed a soft kiss to her cheek, then another, and then one to her temple. "come back down," you said gently. for a second you thought she might resist, but she didn't.
you shifted off her lap and guided her down with you, pulling the blanket back over both of you. she immediately turned onto her side facing you, closer than before like she needed proximity to steady herself.
you wrapped one arm around her shoulders and slid the other under her pillow so you could scratch lightly at her scalp.
"stay?" she exhaled shakily, barely audible.
"promise."
you felt her melt a little.
"can you... talk about something normal?" she whispered. "anything."
"okay… tomorrow we're getting coffee, and you're gonna complain that it’s too sweet but drink it anyway, and then you're gonna pretend you don't want to go on a walk, but you will, and I'll point out every dog we see." you smiled faintly.
a small, real breath of amusement left her.
"and later, you're gonna sit on the couch and make music or not make music, and I'll sit next to you, and that'll be enough." you continued softly.
her hand slid up to cup your jaw.
"how do you do that?" she asked quietly.
"do what?" you hummed.
"make my problems go away."
"a lot of practice and love, or maybe I just have a way with words. seriously though, I don't. you're just strong," you smiled and brushed your thumb across her cheek.
she chuckled then studied you for a moment like she was trying to memorize your face in the dark.
"I'm so tired," she whispered again.
"I know baby, I know. rest." you said, pressing your lips to her forehead. your fingers kept moving through her hair, slow and steady, nails lightly dragging against her scalp the way you knew she liked.
her breathing gradually deepened, her grip on your shirt loosened, and somewhere between one soft exhale and the next, the tension in her shoulders finally dropped.
so finally you both drifted off safe, happy, and sound because you were more than happy just to be apart of her life—no matter how sad she got, no matter how large her problem—and she was more than happy to be with you.

summary · masc!jane and hyperfem!reader hcs
watch out · kind of masc!jane remover, hyperfem!reader, requested, not inspired by anything but myself, jane is still obviously a girl and somewhat feminine, a/n — hey I think I just fell in love with you /j
masc!jane who you kind of unintentionally follow around all the time. it's not on purpose, but if she gets up for a snack you're there and if she's in the studio you're idly scrolling on your phone somewhere near her.
masc!jane who is the complete opposite of you—no, seriously; the only thing you both have in common are being girls and liking music a lot.
masc!jane who pretends like she doesn't steal your ridiculously named shampoos, soaps, and body scrubs sometimes.
"jane, do you know why my strawberry shortcake soap is out? I had like, one wash left at least..." you pouted, picking up the bottle and shaking it as if that'd summon liquid back into it.
"uh... no?"
masc!jane who definitely makes a pink or pink and white themed album just for you. it's completely out of character for her, but she wants to represent you in her music too, even if it's just by using different colors.
hyperfem!you who coax jane into doing your lengthy skincare routine with you.
at first, she protests about how her skin is "already good enough" and "your products are useless," but then you put her on your special three—with adjustments for her skin specifically, of course—and she gets obsessed with how soft her face gets.
"what's that cleanser you told me to use again?" she yelled from inside the bathroom, little thunks and thuds sounding out as she dug through the top drawer looking for it.
"I thought my skincare was 'stupid,'" you shouted back and giggled from the bedroom.
"shut up."
masc!jane who's kind of stereotypical by paying for you everywhere, carrying your bags, and things of that nature since she's the more masculine one in the relationship but is still a big baby at heart. she totally loves being held by you and falls asleep in seconds if you play with her hair and murmur sweet nothings.
watch out · jane remover, fem!reader, shotgunning, smoking and or vaping, sfw, suggestive, hot jane ft. that one clip of her laughing "are you high yet"

summary · it starts as a joke and ends with you and your girlfriend jane getting matching tattoos.
watch out · jane remover . fem!reader . fluff . tattooing . sfw . no ai used . requested . you dont understand how much this means to me im going through a rough time :( ilysm
the joke started because you couldn't keep your mouth shut.
you and jane had spent your entire anniversary doing absolutely nothing, which, in your opinion, was the best way to celebrate it. the apartment was warm from the late afternoon sun pouring through the windows, the remains of takeout containers were scattered across the coffee table, and some awful reality show neither of you cared about had been playing for nearly an hour. at some point you'd stopped watching altogether, opting instead to lie across the couch with your head resting comfortably in jane's lap while she absentmindedly played with your fingers.
she had a habit of doing that whenever the two of you were sitting still. sometimes she'd trace the lines in your palm, sometimes she'd compare the size of your hands, and sometimes she'd simply intertwine your fingers and leave them there like she couldn't stand not touching you.
the truth was she couldn't.
on the television, an older couple proudly showed off the tiny matching tattoos they'd gotten for their anniversary decades ago. the interviewer laughed as they explained how impulsive they'd been, and how they'd never regretted it for a second.
"it wasn't the brightest idea, but now she's with me wherever I go." the man said and rested his hand on his wife's hand, the crowd letting out an "aw" after.
you watched for another moment before a grin slowly crept across your face.
"I think they're a little crazy."
jane hummed without looking away from where your fingers were interlinked. "you don't think it's cute?"
"oh it's adorable," you admitted with a quiet laugh. "I just don't think I could ever do it. I'd probably pass out before the needle even hit me."
"you're really that scared of needles?" she looked down at you with one eyebrow raised, clearly amused.
"I'm really that scared of needles."
her eyes caught yours, and she paused for a moment to look at you fondly.
"loser."
you leaned further into her, rolling your eyes as you playfully nudge her side with your elbow. she barely budges, but she looks down at you with the most offended expression you’ve ever seen. "you wouldn't survive a tattoo either."
"excuse you?" she scoffed, looking almost offended by the accusation.
"you heard me."
"I've dealt with like, the craziest fans in the world. I think a tattoo is like nothing compared to some of the shit they do."
"that's not the same thing."
"it's related." she insisted.
"no, jane. one is having people who love you too much try to touch you, hurt you, and get on stage. the other is voluntarily paying someone to stab you thousands of times."
she thought for a second then hummed in acknowledgment.
"I guess that's true, but I'd still do it."
"no, you wouldn't." you twisted around so you could look at her properly.
"I absolutely would."
"you hate getting blood drawn."
"I hate hospitals."
"you looked away during my flu shot." you stated plainly.
"I... saw a bird." she said uncertainly.
"you nearly fainted!"
"yeah because it was like some, extra super rare species, baby."
you burst into laughter, and the offended look on her face only made you laugh harder. she crossed her arms over her chest with as much annoyance as she could manage with the love of her life lying across her lap.
"you have such little faith in me."
"I've got exactly the right amount of faith in you."
"no." she shook her head then leaned down to press a kiss to your cheek before pulling away. there was a gleam in her eye, one that told you there was at least some seriousness to the proposal.
"what?" you tilted your head, still beaming at her.
"I'd get one."
"mhm." you dragged out the word, obviously skeptical.
"I mean it." she huffed. you stared. she stared. fine. two could play that game.
"so do I."
she narrowed her eyes at you.
"you think I'm bluffing." you pouted.
"I know you're bluffing." she chuckled.
a smug grin spread across your face as the perfect response popped into your head.
"fine then." you reached over and poked the center of her chest. "let's get matching tattoos."
the words hung between you. for a second, vi simply stared, and then she barked out a laugh.
"no way."
"I knew it."
"I'm laughing because you suggested it."
"so?"
"you just spent five minutes talking about how terrified you are!"
"I did."
"and now you wanna get matching tattoos?"
"I don't."
she blinked.
"you don't?"
"I'm kidding." you laughed.
"oh," she said, a relieved chuckle escaping her.
"... unless." you teased.
"unless?" she looked back down at you, completely confused.
you couldn't keep a straight face anymore. the smile broke first, followed immediately by another round of laughter.
"you should've seen your face."
"I hate you."
"no I really almost had you!" you got out between giggles.
"like I can't tell if you're joking sometimes! it's scary out here for me," she laughed.
you finally calmed down and gingerly brushed some hair out of her face, sitting up slighty to press a kiss to the now exposed skin there.
"you are so annoying," she murmured, but it was obvious she was lying.
"and you still love me." you sighed.
"unfortunately."
the conversation could've kept going, but it ended there. normally that'd be fine, but it wasn't because you'd gotten busy or distracted—she'd just kind of slowly shut down.
she'd gone strangely quiet, her thumb absentmindedly rubbing across your knuckles, as though she was trying to make sure you really were with her, while she stared somewhere over your shoulder. it was subtle enough that most people probably wouldn't have noticed, but after three years together you knew jane, and you knew when she wasn't feeling well.
you watched her for a few more moments before gently nudging her arm. a cautious test.
she didn't react.
"what's wrong?" you finally asked.
"hm?"
"you're not happy."
"we were just laughing."
"yeah, a few minutes ago."
"still, nothing's wrong. I'm having fun." she reassured you unconvincingly, there not enough sincerity in her tone.
"I think you're just telling me you're having fun so I don't worry, like you always do." you frowned a little, sighing as you looked up at her.
"... maybe."
she let out a long, deep exhalebefore looking back down at your intertwined hands. looking back down at real proof you were together and you weren't just some temporary dream she'd wake up from.
"I guess I was just thinking... it'd actually be kinda nice, but you probably wouldn't want to do that."
"the tattoos?"
"yeah." she nodded.
"I don't know. three years means we've been through a lot together. I guess having something permanent or like, a reminder that you'll always be with me would be nice." she shrugged awkwardly then looked down at your fingers again, and you could tell she was trying to feign carelessness in fear of you judging her. you pushed yourself upright until you were sitting beside her instead of across her lap.
"I'd do it if you wanted me to." you said softly.
"you would?" she looked over, surprised.
"I'd complain the whole time—"
"I figured." she interrupted, and you glared at her.
"I'd squeeze your hand until you lost circulation—"
"I also figured."
"jane!" you giggled.
"okay, okay sorry!" she laughed.
"but yeah. I'd do it." you smiled. for a second she didn't say anything, and then the smile on her face slowly faded again.
"can I ask you something?"
"of course, baby." you rubbed your thumb over her hand to reassure her. she hesitated long enough that you realized whatever was coming wasn't another joke, or even a quiet admission.
"what happens if you break up with me?"
"what?"
"I mean..." she laughed awkwardly, rubbing the back of her neck. "then I'd just have this tattoo forever, you know?" she looked down at her own wrist as though she could already picture it there. "and, and every time I looked at it I'd remember that I wasn't enough to make you stay," she swallowed.
your heart sank.
"jane."
she wouldn't look at you.
"jane. people can leave, and I know that's happened before, but I need you to hear me, right now. I could spend the rest of my life meeting new people, and I'd still spend every conversation comparing them to you."
jane's eyes searched yours, uncertain.
"they wouldn't laugh like you," you smiled to yourself, "they wouldn't smile the way you do when you know you're about to beat me at something."
a quiet huff escaped her nose despite herself.
"they wouldn't somehow turn grocery shopping into a date—and they definitely wouldn't make me feel safe just by holding my hand." her eyes started to glisten. you rested your forehead against hers, letting the silence sit between you for a second before speaking again.
"you're perfect, jane."
her face twisted in on itself until she looked offended like you'd lied, or maybe because you wholeheartedly believed that and hadn't.
"I'm definitely not."
"you are to me. I don't think there's another person on this planet who's as perfect for me as you are." you said without hesitation.
she closed her eyes for a moment, and when she opened them again they were noticeably shinier.
"you're so mean to me."
"how?" you chuckled in confusion.
"'cause now I wanna cry."
"oh baby," you said softly and chuckled a little after, heart swelling as you pressed lingering kisses to her face and neck every few seconds. eventually you stopped, and when you did she leaned forward until your noses brushed together.
"I love you." she said.
"I love you too."
"no... I really, really love you." she smiled.
"I know."
"fuck you. don't be smug."
"I wasn't being smug."
"you were absolutely being smug."
you laughed again before closing the tiny distance between you, kissing her slowly until you felt her melt against you. her hand found the back of your neck almost instantly, and yours settled comfortably against her waist as the kiss lingered far longer than either of you had intended. when you finally pulled away, she was still smiling.
"so..." you brushed another kiss against the tip of her nose.
"so."
"we're really doing this?"
"we're really doing this." she laughed under her breath, shaking her head in disbelief. "wow. this started because you were making fun of, like, fifty year olds and now we're getting matching tattoos. I can't believe this is how we make important life decisions together."
"I can." you intertwined your fingers with hers.
"why?"
"because every good thing that's ever happened to me started with you."
"you're so cheesy... but I like it. c'mon." jane smiled so brightly it almost stole the air from your lungs. she stood first before offering you a hand.
"where are we going?"
"the tattoo shop."
"right now?" your brows furrowed incredulously.
"before one of us gets smart enough to back out." she grinned.
"I thought this was all a joke." you laughed as she pulled you to your feet.
"it was." she leaned down to kiss your forehead before lacing your fingers together again. her thumb brushed over the back of your hand.
"but I wouldn't mind having your name tattooed on my arm," she smiled that soft, impossibly fond smile that always made your heart skip, "my lucky charm."
