I'm gonna write a D&D AU fic with several ships but I'm hung up on one....
Ronance?
or Jancy?
Jonathan: Nancy, you got your sheep, and you got your black sheep. And I’m not even a sheep. I’m on the freakin’ moon.
"you're young, attractive, you've got chemistry, history, and the real shit: you've got shared trauma"
NOT ONLY DO I SHIP IT REALLY HARD THIS GUY IS AMAZING
i was going thru the 2521 tag and your "i survived yijin saying congrats on your wedding" and my heart broke all over again (also sorry you had to deal with that in another character damn) im doing a rewatch of 2521 and i hate seeing older heedo. because it seems like she seemingly "forgets" when its convenient for the writers narrative that "things dont last forever" bc why does she have a workroom full of rainbow chairs and writes her daughters name with "ballerina" at the end like yijin did for her sword (national team member na heedo) but you're telling me she didnt remember a significant beach trip with her first ever friends in her life, her penpal/idol turned friend, and someone that supported her when no one else did and helped her to be where shes at, and literally just told her he loved her and he didnt need a rainbow (goes back to the chairs) and when her mom brings up she saw him recently in the ep before this, her face had this Look because it meant something. so she just... didnt remember? i don't buy it and i don't buy when people say she had 20 more years of life after or whatever cause you know what? thats a very core memory and you're just not going to forget it. you have people in their 40s and 50s rn trying to relive their childhood from nostalgia via gaming or whatever hobbies they had *because* they remember those memories and feelings, so no you don't just randomly forget things with very significant people in your life. cause if she remembered the little things of yijin, there's no way she forgot that memory in itself.
To think I was out of Tumblr for a while AND THIS IS THE FIRST THING THAT I SEE AJAJA. First, thanks anon for the comment, and YES, IT KILLS ME WHENEVER THEY GO WITH THE "Nothing lasts forever" because then WHY THE HELL DID YOU PRESENT THEM LIKE IT WAS GONNA LAST FOREVER, YOU SON OF AA JZKLDJLAKS. Ok. I wrote that post when Stranger Things was airing the last season and Jancy was just broken up and GOD DAMN IT, HOW IT HURTS TILL THIS DAY BECAUSE MY BIGGEST FEAR WAS TO HAVE A SIMILAR SITUATION LIKE HEE DO AND YIJIN, WHERE THEY JUST HAVE A LIFE AWAY FROM THE OTHER AND GET MARRIED TO OTHERS, AND AHHH. I'm glad that didn't happen, but it was still totally unnecessary for them to break up. While in 2521 I can see WHY it had to happen like it did, I mean, Hee Do's mom is the first one to point out how Yijin has a strong attachment to responsibilities, this case being his job, exactly like Hee Do's mom. However, as you said, it is a bit confusing when they say they are over the relationship and years later you still remember them, like ONLY THEM. I would like to say that is part of the format?, I'm not much into K-Dramas but the few ones I have seen always go for the type of romance that lasts forever. Even when it doesn't work out, the characters keep an emotional attachment to their exes as an excuse to say, "That love was so important, and now that I heal, I can love you sincerely and not selfishly." However, it is weird when the narrative just adapts to the format, like Yu Rim had a bond as strong as Hee Do and Yijin, you can't convince me Older Hee Do would not bring her to the table whenever she remembers her youth. Then again, of the few dramas I have watched, it is common to forget other kinds of bondings to preserve the romance narrative. Thanks for the ask <3
