Last week I rambled about the middle child bit — but I just noticed another. They care for everyone.

I saw something on here complain that Mai was the only lone doing anything in the pre-relationship, but that’s just inaccurate. Jade does a lot for Mai; he’s teaching him at work, eating with him, joking with him, providing a confidante, worries about him when he’s injured, scolds him to be careful, tries really hard to accept Mai will find someone else, etc.

The reason it’s hard to see, is because that’s Jade. Jade who supported Uea with hugs, words, nuzzles, resignation letters, and gifts — Jade who helped King with plans, gifts, rings.

Jade is someone who offers help without a thought of a reward. Couple that with his insecurities, and he gives to Mai without acknowledging Mai is giving back.

Win what? This is a much bigger plot point in the book, but essentially Win is unintentionally notorious for making people feel special. And the normally results in them being absolutely heartbroken when he’s not interested. In the book Dean, Waan, and Wiew all warn Win about making Team feel special without meaning to.
