One thing I was thinking about is: there are so many different ways you can support content creators across platforms!

Likes/kudos, sharing/reblogging/retweeting, replying, comments, sending the content to a friend, talking to the author, engaging with the author (i.e. through asks or messages), recommending the content, just saying something nice like “You worked really hard, great job” or “That’s amazing”... and there’s so many other ways, too, the list goes on and on. 

Something I feel like I’ve noticed, too, (by the way, if you’re reading this post and panicking/feeling guilty—this is not a callout or an accusatory post, it’s just my opinion) is there are some creators who will simply self-promote (and not interact much with others). Please note there is nothing wrong with this. I mean, I encourage self-promotion and I love it. At the same time, I think it’s healthy for the community for creators to respond to other creators. Because it shouldn’t just be consumers supporting creators, I think creators need to interact, too. I’m not saying it’s selfish or wrong for a creator to only post about their work, but it’s good to look around you and cheer other people on.

And to your point, I definitely think that like, there are motivators (or... de-motivators?) that stop us from doing this and of course you’re valid to feel that way. Support isn’t obligatory. But you can give it however you can, whenever you can. If your support is reacting to a message on Discord with a heart emoji, no one is going to be like “That’s not supportive enough!”
