Update on the Pregnant SRKW
So while I was searching around, obviously intrigued about the pregnant females in the population, I came across this nugget of information.
“In October, during the annual photogrammetry update lecture by John Durban (NOAA) and Holly Fearnbach (SeaLifer3), it was said that K27 “Deadhead” was no longer pregnant. Deadhead was one of the pregnant females that were confirmed in September 2018. However, on a more positive note there are once again several pregnancies within the Southern Resident population and so far, both 20-year-old J36 “Alki” and 12-year-old J42 “Echo” from the J16 matriline are said to be pregnant. ”
J36 and J42 are both pregnant, according to drone researchers.

A special episode featuring a boat tour of the J42, Sailing Vessel Thylacine. Captain Noah Peffer walks us through Thylacine and her features and some of his plans as he and his wife Alex prepare for full-time cruising in the very near future.
Noah Peffer is an educator at the University of Southern California... I stole the below text from their website.
Captain Noah Peffer, Lecturer and Vessel Captain Captain Peffer Graduated from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston with a two bachelors in Art and Education in 2000 and promptly moved to Los Angeles. In 2005 he completed a graduate degree in art at Cal Arts and has been working as a conceptual artist, carpenter, fabricator and teacher in Los Angeles for the past decade. Captain Peffer grew up sailing the East Coast and Bahamas on the David Stevens schooner Sarah Abbott (sister ship to Atlantas!) with his family. The son of a wooden boat owner he was raised in and around boatyards and developed an interest in traditional sailing craft while simultaneously racing on everything from 420’s, to Shields, to Schooners, to ocean racing ULDB’s. Captain Peffer has cruised in many parts of the world but always returns to Southern California. He is also a Lecturer at Cal State University Long Beach in the Wood Department.
