i'm also not very fascinated by the idea of lestat and gabriella killing their family members despite what happens in the book BUT I think it's a very interesting detail how Gabriella was 100% convinced lestat killed caludia ("I see why you took her back") because he has already done that with his biological family before, then Lestat choosing to upset her and dropping the flirting for the first time since their reunion. Lestat can bare a lot of defamation coming from everywhere but the single thing he keeps close to the truth is the fact that Claudia's murder was not by his hands and it pains him that no one knows he actually wouldn't kill someone if he truly loved and cared for them. He never did.
