I just read a fanfic and I'm curious, what do you think of the theory that Ivårë is a name for Maglor in the Third Age and beyond?
I think it's great! As I realised researching the Maglor Bio for SWG, it was around when Maglor became a singer in Tolkien's imagination that Tolkien literally crossed out Ivare and wrote Maglor in the margin of the Lay of Leithian manuscript. This text also curiously refers to Maglor/Ivare in present tense, very much highlighting the aspect of continuity between the legends and today and the singer of old who still laments on "far forgotten beaches". It's a very apt pseudonym for Maglor!
