Ivaldi once more! thanks for all the kind messages on the tags on the prev post, it really helped me to put it on perspective. I think it really do helps sharing about ocs and have that kind of feedback to go insane about them

Finally drew my interpretations of Ivaldi’s sons or at least some of them. It isn’t stated how many sons Ivaldi has, so I went with three for my interpretation. I’ve yet to name them, but I do eventually I want to.

Headcanons :

-They're triplets

-These three were born after Sigyn and before Idunn. It’s unknown whether Ivaldi made them on his own or if they had a mother. Some rumor if they did that, she was an elf.

-They had the typical arguing and bantering sibling relationship amongst eachother and their sisters (mostly Sigyn). They do care for eachother but also despise eachother at times too.

-Only two out of the three of them decided to follow in their father’s footsteps. The middle triplet found his passion more in poetry and music (making him best buds with his brother in law Bragi)

-That being said, he is the father of Sjofn, Gefjon, and Lofn. Many assumed Freyja had slept with all three of the brothers, and each one gave her daughter. But that was just a rumor turned out while she did sleep with all three at different points while her necklace was being made. Only one of them is the father of her daughters(the middle triplet).

-Freyja, however, lost interest in him and took their daughters with her, leaving Sigyn and Idunn's hopeless romantic of a brother heartbroken. The other two weren’t really sad, though, but they felt bad for their brother.

-As for the other other two brothers, they really had no interest in romance after Freyja. They liked focusing on their blacksmithing more. They also have kinda of an ongoing rivalry with their eldest sister Sigyn.

-Not long after Freyja left, the middle triplet disappeared. Many thought he either got drunk and froze to death in the woods, or he was killed by a jealous lover of Idunn wanting revenge on her. Turns out, neither was true, and he was found by Syn years later drunk in a tavern. He then finally got to reunite with his daughters thanks to Syn.

-He then mostly stayed in Asgard and made friends with Syn. Sharing his music and poetry with her.

I decided to build more on his character, since we don't have anything about him and I've had many thoughts about my interpretation of his character! I'm planning on going more in depth soon but tiny headcannon for now: he would totally brag about his children and ironically enough accept Loki more than Freyja when it comes to his marriage to Sigyn. XD

In the eddic poem Hrafnagaldur Óðins, stanza 6, Idunn is identified as the "youngest of the elder children of Ivaldi" implying that Ivaldi had AT LEAST two sets of children that we are aware of.

Most likely by different mothers or himself? Since asexual reproduction isn't anything uncommon in norse mythology.

Also considering there aren't any female dwarfs mentioned, unless we take out the list of ALL the dwarfs names.

Now, here is my question!

If we follow the very popular theory that a few goddesses without any known origin story, like for example Sigyn. Are the results of Freyja sleeping with the dwarfs to achieve her necklace brisingamen.

And we go through their names to connect the dots or fill in the missing holes of a story.

Sigyn being "Friend of victory" "victorious girlfriend"

Sjofn being "woman" or things related to love or feelings.

And Lofn as "The comforter"

Who would Idunn's mother or other parent be? Personally I do want to see Freyja as her mother, since her name means "ever young" or "the rejuvenating one" ..

But it feels like it's own thing kinda.

Since we only know about Ivaldi's sons, I'll also assume Idunn is the youngest out of them and say the second pair of children are by Freyja.
