Elena waited by the picnic tables on the school lawn. Her morning had already started off pretty crazy. The night before Bonnie had convinced her to get a pregnancy test because she was just really worked up about her period being late and her friend thought if nothing else it would just put her mind at ease. It had done the exact opposite. Elena hadn’t been able to bring herself to take the test until this morning, and then when it had come back positive she had decided that after school she would get another one and take it again, just to confirm. But she was going to have to tell Stefan first because there was just no way she could keep something like this to herself. Anyway the kid was his so he had a right to know.
She leaned against the table, looking at her phone, wondering if she should text him again. She shouldn’t. They normally met here when they didn’t come to school together and she had already texted him once that she had to talk to him, so she should just let it be. No need to worry him. Besides, he would get here when he got here. And this would probably just ruin his day. She didn’t need to be in a hurry for that. It was selfish - she just didn’t want to be the only one who knew about this. Relief flooded her face when she finally saw him. She was sure he was around his normal time, but this information was just eating at her and making every minute seem like an hour. “There you are,” she tried to smile. “I almost thought you were gonna skip.”
