If you are happy and you know it. — You know what to do... Today I dedicate my Newsletter to my grandmother Martha Margareta (neè Smit) Nel who never studied music at the University of Stellenbosch(although her suitcases were already packed!) When her father passed away she stayed home to take care of her mother. Her legacy lives on in the love for music she instilled into the family by playing her piano with arthritis fingers, clapping children’s songs with me on her lap and she always had a twinkle in her eye. And I am forever grateful I could practice for my grade 12 music exams on her piano(and I have a couple of songs about it too). In the photo is her Hallelujah songbook with lots of markings in it. It is falling apart but it will become the front-page album cover-picture for #BlessedAssurance #AfterDinnerMint. Women: mothers, sisters and daughters rock! And the men who guard them.
