the dess and susie parallels are so obvious and have been since we've known about dess and yet no one talks about it. maybe because it would unfortunately give a lot of people ammo to be weird about noelles attraction to susie. but narratively the parallels are there. they are, essentially, inverses of each other. to me, the two of them are people getting lost in fiction. it provides a better world for them, one that isn't so bad. in parallel to the world giving noelle and kris a place to enact their violent repressed desires out in safety, and them confronting those feelings through fiction, susie instead gets to be better in her world. she GETS to be the hero. she is already violent and scary in real life. she gets to be sweet, to be happy, to have friends in her fictional world. its swallowing her whole, because it's the only thing she DOES have. she doesn't have all the things pulling her back to real life like both kris and noelle do. and it feels so obvious and also so deeply ignored. her entire arc with gerson really fucked me up.

the way sirius just falls silent when harry tells him that he doesn’t have to hear lily die everytime the dementors approach him. the way that just DESTROYS him. he just stops going after wormtail. just sits before harry defenceless, ready to accept whatever punishment the boy deems worthy of him…
