Barren Pulchritude
This past weekend I took Kate (the gaffer) to pretty much an isolated piece of land in the Yucca Valley, to celebrate her belated birthday which she happened to be out of the country for. Being a thoughtful guy and knowing she wanted to just chill I found this great eco house surrounded by the desert aesthetic that we both love; where would we be without AirBnb.
So after a short pit stop for deodorant and Starbucks coffee, we set off on Friday afternoon on our 2 and half hour journey towards barren pulchritude. We had a boot filled with food, wine, beer and our minds set on relaxation, after a uneventful journey and a conversation on why we should substitute eggs for blood in our culinary exploits, we had arrived.
The expression on Kate’s face was priceless, worth the immense planning and keeping this place shrouded in secrecy. In my mind, I was like when do I collect my husband of the week year award. After we unpacked and got the modern eco house sorted, we headed to Pappy and Harriet’s for some beer and grub. This old style tavern is so Americana and far from the usual bars we are accustomed to visiting in Los Angeles. At that point I knew we would have a memorable time in solitude.
