Hey, so I was recently plagiarized.
I'll keep it short because everyone has heard the spiel before - drawing inspiration from something someone else has written is okay but directly copying and pasting is not.
Plagiarism is harmful to every content creator because some of us (especially here on Tumblr) do it free of charge. I write my fics for free on my own time for other people's entertainment and you could probably imagine how upset I was when I was notified by @myfavoriteficss (thank you again) that two of my Marvel fics posted on @bookshelf-imagines were stolen and reposted on another blog. (Mine and stolen, again mine and stolen)
The blog in question is @marvelsis (I can't tag them because they blocked me). I asked nicely if they could take them down, and an hour and a half later they agreed. I waited another hour and a half in order for them to go through with what they said and take my fics down, but they didn't. I reported both posts for plagiarism and am going to be patient for an answer.
Marvel writers - just watch out for them because it doesn't seem like they're going to stop anytime soon.
Again, it is extremely harmful to creators and ESPECIALLY writers because someone can change the title of a few key words and you will never be able to find the post with tumblr's already horrible search function. Artists, I love y'all, but seeing a piece of art that was reposted is a lot easier and in your face than a couple thousand words.
I'm upset, yeah. Everyone would be if they had their works taken by someone else and made their own.
Do not steal someone else's content they worked hard on. Create your own content so you can become better at it.
I know! I know! "But what if-" no. There are no buts when it comes to this. Make your own content. Write your own fics. Draw your own art. Create your own poetry, for all I care.
It is nothing but negativity.
Again - be careful and keep an eye out. 🥳
