So to continue the Marriage-based Law segments, let’s actually cover the core. Marriage. What does marriage mean on Unicron? And what’s some of the legal stuff around it?

Okay, so Unicronian life and religion is based on unity. You know, “Till all are one!” And that everyone is equal. And marriage unity between two people, even to the point of intimacy.

Because of this, marriage is very sacred. When it happens, it’s a cause of great celebration. Finding one that you can be the most vulnerable with, yet completely safe and loved, is amazing and celebrated as such.

Marriage is one of the few instances where law will override religions. Unicron is proudly a society which allows religious freedom. But it does not allow practices which violate the “one are equal” rule.

So, for example, there are some cultures out there that treat their women like sh** and objects. These practices can be punished by the Slimer Level. If the practice is abusive, Execution is an option. This is similar to the forced cheating situation covered last time, though it’s a bit harsher because you’re betraying someone you’ve given everything to.

However, the punishment gets harsher if spouses are abusive for no reason. I’m looking at a good chunk of you Earthlings now. Any sort of abuse is severely punished on Unicron. If someone finds abuse, you can be sent to the Slimer Level and/or executed. This is one of those case-by-case situations, but most of the time, abuse is severely punished.

So what about forced or prearranged marriages? Not allowed. This is another form of abuse and/or a violation of the everyone is equal rule. Now this gets tricky, becuase sometimes the prearranged lovers still fall in love. Or it only looks prearranged, meaning the two people are in love and they just make it look arranged due to cultures. This isn’t allowed still, but it causes a lighter punishment for the arrangers.

But in normal circumstances, there’s no shared feelings between the two... at the most, a business arrangement mentality. In these cases, a Priest will help the couple file for a divorce (I will cover divorce in a later segment). Then the ones arranging or forcing the marriage shall be sent to the Slimer Level. In some very violent situations Execution, but this rarely happens.

Unlike Primus, all cities are inside, and any indication of the life on surface isn’t widely seen. Everything is taken inward for safely. There are some exceptions, like the Dark Energon River, the mountains, etc. you have eyes, you can see.

So part of the big thing of VERY Unicronian appearance (we have been unable to obtain Unicron 0 yet so do not have info on that), are the fact Unicrons use personal servants to bash stuff up and do their will... or puppets. The servants are typically called “Heralds”.

But they have not shown up in any descriptions of my society. So how, or if, do they fit it?

Heralds are actually, unsurprisingly, part of the Guard class. But instead of bonding to a Priest, they bond to Unicron himself. Obviously they cannot be a control-checks balancer, but they get amazing extra powers so there’s no complaint.

Heralds are built/selected for wartime or invading planets, which is why they rarely appear in a Breeder Unicron’s society. You know, PEACEFUL UNICRON. They are rarely needed.
