So, I went to Indiaforums to read a few fanfics, since its the weekend. And what do I see? Some Shivika fan has made a post requesting Rikara fanfic writers to put disclaimers in their work if “they are planning to degrade a character”. In other words, censor their fanfictions. 

As I’ve mentioned on this blog before, one of my friend’s Kashish’s amazing fanfic Pati ka Farz, Patni ka Haq, was taken down by the moderators of the forum because Shivaay fans felt that it mocked Shivaay. 

Even beyond basic civility to not impinge on a fanfic writer’s creative liberty, what is more pathetic is that fans are defending their right to report such fanfics.

This argument was too good not to be shared on my blog. So, one Shivika fan argues:

“As Harneet’s work is reported to Star Plus by fans who are upset; hence fans who are upset with a fanfiction can report it to the moderators of the forum” 

Matlab, pardon my language, but chutiyaape ki hadd hoti hai. Somebody tell these idiots that Harneet is ‘paid’ to write and it is her job to cater to the audience’s entertainment and demands, that is what pays her bills every month.

A fanfic writer is writing to express her feelings and thoughts on a set of characters, spinning her own tale, of her perception of those characters; she is writing as a hobby, for her creative expression, not to please the readers.

I have to applaud Shivika fans, they claim to despise Rikara and yet come to Indiaforums and other websites to read Rikara fanfictions. Matlab what a dedication sirjee!
