-They fight quite often, but they quickly make up and act like nothing ever happened. 

-When they do fight, it’s typically about something that was said to someone else rather than the other (I. E. Celestia making a snide remark to Chihiro or Mondo)

-The two have a very strong connection, though they both hide it (Celestia is particularly good at this)

-While Ishimaru isn’t Celestia’s ideal Vampire Butler, he is a gentleman, and that’s much better than she had thought it would be.

-Ishimaru constantly comes to her aid, even when he really doesn’t have to.

-The two are sticklers for rules, though Ishimaru is more general about breaking rules while Celestia is mainly set on the curfew. 

-Dates are very over-the-top, no matter who plans them out. 

-Their friends were unsure of how they managed to become a couple in the first place- they seemed extremely different.

-Mondo Chihiro and Hifumi in particular were SHOOK.

I wasn’t sure if you meant for just DR (since I know many of you follow me for it), or in general. I actually don’t have too many rare pairs in DR, surprisingly. I would have done other fandoms too, but this was getting long!

Komamiki- I’ve told this story before, but I started out as a K0mah1na shipper! I didn’t know the characters well when I was first getting into the fandom four years ago, but I saw comparisons to the two of them and Kaw0sh1in (which I love). Unfortunately for me, they turned out to be more like manga version of Kaw0sh1n, which never really did much for me. Nothing against Koma.hina! I just click with Komamiki more. After about a month in the fandom, I happened to see Komamiki fanart, probably in Komaeda’s tag. It instantly clicked for me! Their personalities made *so* much sense together! Both are so down on themselves, but Tsumiki loves caring for sick people, and Ko has so much reverence for SHSLs, it feels like the perfect fit. And as I actually read through the game, I found that I loved their few interactions. Ko was always so concerned whenever she fell down, and Tsu was so determined to save him when he got sick! I also *love* it when both parties in a ship have similar personalities. I even enjoy the chapter 3 trial for them, but I want to do a meta post on that at some point, so I won’t get into that here. This was also around the time when antis were heavily into tag spamming, so all of the opposition just made me like the ship even more, because I’m a very difficult person lol Lastly, I identify with both characters quite a bit, so seeing them together makes me feel comforted in some way.

Ishiceles- I know haven’t written Ishiles fic in years, but it’s only because I’ve had writers block for them for that long >< I do still enjoy the ship very much! Once again, I am very easily influenced by pretty fanart! Celes is my fav from DR1, so cruising her tag four years ago or so, I came across art by Mackerel. I have to give them kudos for staying interested in the ship to this day! Most of the DR fanartists I first enjoyed when I got into the fandom, have long since left, but Mackerel is still bringing the Ishiles to this day! Anyway, I like how similar their designs are. That said, I don’t think the ship could actually work in canon, but in a non-Despair AU, I like the thought of the challenge in them getting together. I’d love to see Celes learning to care for him, and see him as person rather than a plaything, especially. It’s something I’d love to read in a fic, but it’s such a rare pair, no one is ever likely going to. (must I do everything around here??)
