It took two tries to get to the archeological park at Cuma, but it was worth it. If you're thinking of going, I recommend you do, but don't believe anyone who tells you there's a bus that stops there. : )
If I had it all to do over again, I'd rent a bike in Naples, take it on the train to the station at Licola and ride from there to the park on the back roads.
I took the photo above standing on the acropolis of the ancient site of Cumae. Until I got there, I didn't really understand what I'd read about the Greeks settling first Parthenope (which became Naples), then Pithekoussai (Ischia) and Cumae. Looking at it with my own eyes, yeah, I could see how those three cities together controlled all the waters around Naples.
