the funny thing about writers coding slash ships as romantic by paralleling them with m/f ships in the same show is that tv writers have little to no clue that fandoms seem to have devolved to the point where they can't comprehend nasty icky romances actually being a part of the storytelling, so they refuse to even engage the brain cells into unpacking exactly What the narrative is implying by saying that these two guys or these two gals are Exactly like this man and this woman who are in a romantic relationship... it's the coding btw. I thought you all Liked that type of thing. They're affirming the gay narratives as romantic. Like come on.
#look okay i'm talking about how la'an and spock are affirming spirk btw#and this is me barely scratching the surface bc the idea of most m/f fandoms deigning to pay attention to a woman#is laughable#but in the interest of fairness i'm Also talking about every m/f relationship in 13's era dw being thasmin parallels#to the point that it was as subtle as a brick to the head and the fandom just bitching about all the straights#like they weren't utilising narrative framing to place the gay ship explicitly in the arena of a romantic relationship#but back to the original ship like... it's a prequel they Can't actually Do The Gay Ship#so the writing team are uhhhh being real nice by this tbh like they could have done nothing#and ppl complaining would have no real legs to stand on over it#because the prequel of it all
