#irl exp

This little kid, probably 5 years old, barely know how to speak yet, but is very chatty. Saying mostly gibberish and a few English words. 

Those words being “Toys play”, and “house”. 

She tried to get my attention and even pulled me to the bedroom where she’s been playing with a bunch of styrofoam blocks alone, the setting looks kinda sad. Having nothing else to do, I quietly played along. 

It was pretty fun, balancing the irregularly shaped blocks, collapsing them, then stack again. She kept saying stuff that seems to be an interesting story, if only I understood what’s being said. It’s also funny when we put down the final block, she screams in laughter. Children sure are easily entertained. 

Later, it’s time for us to leave. 

The kid obviously got attached to me, closing the door on my own mom.  It’s been fun, kinda awkward, but nice. Still, we’re just visiting.  I finally spoke, telling her I have to go. Not sure if she understood, but surely my tone was clear enough, I can’t stay. 

She let go of the door, I went through, but then she grabbed my arm, having a little tug-of-war with my mom pulling my other arm. My aunt jokingly said she’s not going to let me go. The unrealistic thought kinda scared me, am I gonna be stuck here forever? 

Eventually, the kid let me go, my mom said we’ll be back next year, and then we left the place. 

Being wanted like this is a weird feeling. It’s not the first time I became a playmate to my cousins’ children. But the other kids are always happy even in saying goodbye. And attachments usually loosen when we get older. 

I don’t think they even remember spending time with me. Much like how I don’t remember all of my extended family members..
