Prologue:
When Tsuna was born, both the doctors and his mother were surprised.
The chances of being born without an Iris were less than one percent but he was. The doctors didn't believe it even the facts were staring them in the face, Tsuna didn't have the one defining the feature that all other children with an Iris had, the extra corona in his eyes.
It was a labeling that would haunt Tsuna for many years.

By the time Tsuna started kindergarten, he knew he was different.
Unlike his mother, and everyone in Namimori, he looked directly at the person he was talking to. He didn't look to the left of their head, above their head, to the side of them, or anything else, he looked directly at them.
It was strange, to say the least, and even though he wanted to ask why that was, he knew he shouldn't.
Don't speak. Hide. Hide yourself. Don't let them know.
He could see the warnings in his eyes when he tried to explain his mother once, that he wasn’t a “zero.” He didn’t know what it was but he knew, it was bad.
Every time some one else talked about “zeros” the world would darken in the same scary way other people spoke about dying, or suicide.
It was bad.
So Tsuna said nothing, even though he wished, from the bottom of his heart to not be labeled a “zero.”
