And how, in that sense, he will be forced to make Haibara a murderer in truth alongside himself--how the antidote she will make him will, ultimately, be a poison that destroys Conan as well.

(How Ai will need to die for Shiho to return, as well.)

Conan is very close to beig the Kanon of this situation with the most disadvantages and reasons to not be picked:

the possible 'unaging' factor of the APTX would force Conan to die at most by the end of highschool (and I'm being generous),

repeating elementary school,

loss of many relationships from highschool like Nakamichi,

not taken as seriously by the adults(it HAS gotten better since then however),

Would mean either postponing things with Ran or breaking up entirely if the unaging factor is true

keep lying for the rest of his life at least legally even if he tells the people closest to him about the truth.

AND YET at the same time Conan is the reason Shinichi didn't die in the direct aftermath of Tropical Land! Shinichi is a better and less arrogant detective because Conan made him reconsider his actions and how they impact the people around him. (Volume 2 Shinichi inside voice saying he'd rather investigate murders than missing people is an old trait his character grew out of but it was there once!) Many friendships were gained through Conan, even outside the Detective Boys whom I love, sure he probably would have ended up meeting Heiji but I do wonder if they would have hit off so quickly and well without the canon context.

That's not even going in how Haibara allowed Shiho to enjoy a more normal childhood when Shiho had lost everyone else. Of course Haibara can't be just Haibara, she needs to be Shiho too and she acting her age with Pr Agasa, Heiji and Shinichi but it was Ayumi's words too through Haibara which convinced the both of them to not go into Witness Protection Program after the Vermouth arc. YOU COULD SAY THAT WITHOUT LOVE(AI) THE TRUTH CANNOT BE SEEN!
