By the way, they have been selling Duo's cap and Heero's tank top separately, not with the magazine like you think, though fans have been making fun of the ridiculous prices, 4,950 JPY (30 USD) for a cap and 4,400 JPY (27 USD) for a tank top, even though normally people can buy these with less than half the prices in local stores, so this is literally just ripping off Duo and Heero's fans 😂

Other than these, the chapter was so not worth the long wait. 😒

Also the one who got married off to an old geezer is Relena's grandma Sabrina, who is Katerina's older twin sister (though I still don't find it necessary to make twins instead of just one person, I can never be able to get behind the overabundant amount of clones/twins/doppelgangers in FT 🙃)

Also I just realized that the original JP name of Relena's grand-aunt is カテリナ which reads as "Katerina" (the woman appeared in this recent P7 chapter), and Relena's mother's name is カテリーナ which reads as "Kateriina" and is more suited to be romanized as "Katrina" than the grand-aunt. So yeah the wiki and the fandom may have been mistakenly naming them in reverse for decades, and I was also used to call her grand-aunt Katrina it until now, such inconvenience since there is no official translation of FT and the writer is so obsessed with all the "Cathy-"/"Katri-" name variants for female characters 😂

However I still stand by that the TV show was what fans are most familiar with Gundam Wing, an original TV show has hundreds of staff working on it as well as the director has a much bigger influence in this than the scriptwriter, it's a much different case than an anime adaptation when the original manga artist/writer has the right for a bigger say in everything. I just came back to the series last year after like many dozen years of watching it as a casual viewer, yet all of the retcons confused the hell out of me and many details just feel conflicting with the established characters in the TV show. Again, for me it's always just "pick what you like" experience when it comes to Gundam Wing materials anyway.

And besides, it’s not just the Anglosphere that is openly expressing their exaggerated dislike of FT; in various other parts of the world, including Asian countries other than Japan—as you mentioned—the responses are mixed. I’m from one of those other Asian countries. Here’s a little insight into what I found when I checked social media, such as Facebook, regarding FT. People commented that FT has greatly deviated and been dragged out unnecessarily from the original GW.

And well like you said I encountered some other Chinese-speaking fan accounts that were displeased with FT too. Various people, JP or CN alike don't agree with some characters' depiction, the retcons compared to the TV series or Episode Zero, and especially the overabundance of clones/doppelgangers/secret twin siblings etc. Calling us "not respecting the writer who definitely know more about the worldbuilding and characters" or whatever, I think I have seen this kind of mindset since the time Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was released, and I think everyone knows how much backlash it got from the original fanbase for its polarizing plot and fan-perceived character assassinations. And just like that, if fans already don't agree with something, it's difficult to change their opinions honestly. Also, I still standby that Sumizawa is a scriptwriter unlike JK Rowling who is a full-fledged writer who has more control with HP franchise, and if other Gundam series are any indication if FT is going to be animated the novel still has to go through other processes that can change various parts of the script to accommodate the mass viewers. And we're not even sure it's gonna be adapted too honestly, time will tell.
