Movies! 2021
Rocketman
I’ve been craving more musicals I guess since watching Sweeny Todd. I really enjoyed the look into Elton John’s life in the movie (and the music ofc). I like how it focused on highlighting the early part of his career from early childhood to navigating relationships (friendship and romantic relationships) to his issues with addiction. I like how it ended in a hopeful manner showing him overcome his addiction through going to rehab and reconnecting with his best friend.
The Trial of the Chicago Seven
It was so good. I really enjoyed the movie and how it portrayed how needlessly political and what a shame the trial really was. It was infuriating to watch but still remains relevant when it comes to how institutions abuse their power and deny the right (legally) to peaceful protest.
IPMan, IPMan2, IPMan 3 and IPMan 4
I really enjoyed this movie and hopefully will end up watching the sequels. His life is so fascinating and I was really surprised to find at the end of the movie that it was based on real life.
Ranking: Loved Ipman bc it was the original, the second one had amazing action sequences. Really enjoyed the other Wing Chun martial artist in Ipman 3 and it was a treat seeing Bruce Lee in 4.
21 Bridges
Loved this movie. It was so engaging. The pacing, the acting the action and intrigue were just so good. Really enjoyed it!
Door Ke Darshan
It was a fun light-hearted movie. It had some really funny moments but overall it was just okay. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone...
Us
Finally watched it! Although I had only a vague idea of the movie’s plot, the scope of the plot was far greater than I expected. I did enjoy the movie, though!
Drishyam 2
The continuation of the first movie... it started off kind if slow but picked up so nicely. I thought it started of slow, but the momentum picked up so much speed as the movie progressed keeping me on the edge of the sofa. It was so much fun!
Coming to America 2
It was so boring. I liked the songs, but it was not worth a watch.
Raya and the last dragon
I enjoyed it for what it was. It was fun, kind of heavy handed with their message but an engaging one-time watch. Loved the way each city was animated and liked how the dragon looked the 5sec it wasn't cgi.
Rush Hour
It was a fun, light-hearted movie.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League
So, I had the time to watch the 4 hour Snyder cut. Considering I didn’t see the official version that came out 2017, I can’t really speak to any of the changes, but I did like the movie. Did it drag too long? Yes, definitely at parts, but the story was coherent which apparently the original wasn’t. I was surprised how Cyborg played such a central part of the story. But, I do wish that Cyborg looked more like half a machine half human, not a machine with just a human face. It had nice easter eggs, but I doubt I would ever re-watch this movie.
Karate Kid (2010)
Re-watch. It’s okay. Watched it to pass the time.
Lion
It was slow paced but I was invested throughout the movie. The child actors did such a good job!! I like how Dev portrayed Saroo as someone who grew up so removed from his culture and portrayed the disconnect.
Sister Act, Sister Act 2
Watched it for the first time, and I really enjoyed it! It was such a fun time!!
Batman: Long Halloween Part 1
The movie was alright, loved the animation style! Will definitely check out Part 2 to form a complete opinion.
Agatha Christie The Crooked House
It was alright. Kind of predictable.
Blinded by the Light
I really enjoyed this movie! It was very heart-warming and a fun watch! I felt a bit old agreeing more with the mc's parents about certain things.
The Suicide Squad 2021
Possibly my favorite movie of the year, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! Honestly, I was surprised when I found out that this movie came out but I am SO glad that I watched it! It was so funny and entertaining. I loved seeing Rick Flag and Harley Quinn alongside the new characters. The characters were all so endearing, and the story kept taking unexpected turns! I did HATE seeing the CGI Weasel.
Dune
A wonderful viewing experience in theaters. I thought that the book did a great job cramming in so much content in the movie. I like how the movie was paced and really respect Villeneuve's touches making the characters more emotional so the audience is invested in them more. I liked the extra scenes with Duke Leto and Paul. I am looking forward to how part 2 will be executed.
