by all means thragg is a villain, i get it. but in a show where all he nazi coded villains get redemption, even the two rapists (anissa and nolan), i do believe the one who was basically bred to be a weapon and underwent gruesome training, most likely experimentation, and brainwashing to the point where he believed is only purpose was to live for the empire, also deserves some form of meaningful redemption arc. usually i don't care for nazi coded characters being redeemed, but the thing about the viltrumites is it's quite literally hounded on us that they are all victims of abuse and that when they come to earth and are shown kindness for the first time, they change (and imo that's the shoddiest writing ever). but when we talk about how viltrumites are victims of abuse, thragg is almost always left out of the conversation when he arguably faced some of the most hostile and violent abuse out of all of the viltrumites.

his whole life is tragic, he gives everything for viltrum for people who quite literally discarded him at the end. i do not think him going after the grayson's after he figured out they were the heirs was smart at all--but i mean i can understand his anger. he is a weapon and a tool for his empire, and he was created, brainwashed, and tortured to be who he is. and of course, after everything he has done he is going to feel some sort of way when the people who destroyed his home--in his mind the only reason he is alive--turn out to be heirs. and not only heirs, but thragg will be subservient to nolan and mark, which i cannot even imagine how much that would fuck with his mind.

he would be made to serve, be a weapon for and if need be, give his life for two people who in his mind, have not worked nearly as hard as he has. because at the end of the day he is seen as a mechanism to be used by the rulers of viltrum and not an actual person himself. so yes, i can imagine why he snapped. the only reason he is 'free' now, is because the emperorer died.

this is to say that, if any viltrumite "deserved" any form of redemption or happier life, it would've been thragg (or even conquest). most of the viltrumites did not actually have to work for anything they got, and were never held accountable for how they acted. the one person who did try to cecil ironically thragg is the one viltrumite to treat cecil with any form of respect and who knows to keep his hands to himself around cecil even if they have their differences was hated by the narrative. but you have anissa being a rapist and dying a hero, you have nolan tricking people, sleeping with people under false pretenses, grooming minors and then marrying them, murdering people, etc., and he is awarded with being the emperor and gets to die after getting what he wants. you have the narrative going back on its own writing to make the viltrumites all turn on thragg. you have those who are close to nolan getting to live extremely privileged and safe lives.

and this isn't to excuse thragg, and i do understand that some narratives just exist to show that you can still be a victim of abuse and still turn out evil. but it kinda sucks that everyone else gets redemption and the one arguably abused from birth is irredeamable. like yes the rapists nazis survive but the experiments don't. like im not saying he's perfect--the sex cult on thraxia is....is teeeew much.
