Blood Witch: Character Introductions

Brynn Kelly had it all. Beautiful, athletic, and fairly intelligent, she had a top position in the Elysian army ranks and an amazing best friend. Well, she had everything she ever wanted-- except for a mother and a stable relationship. Being with one of the most influential councilwomen in Elysia had its perks, but the secrecy wasn’t one of them. Constantly hiding, ducking into darkly tinted vans, occasionally putting on disguises so the media wouldn’t get suspicious-- it was all for her love, Pyri Steele.

Life may not have been perfect for Brynn, but it was certainly good. Then, a simple invention, made by her best friend, ripped it all away. It put a target-- one she had never even known about-- on her back. It put her life on the line; it sent her on the run.

All because magic ran through her veins. Magic that she couldn’t detect or control.

And everyone in Elysia knows having magic is punishable by death

Character Introduction: Katya Hawthorne

Katya doesn’t have much to live for. Losing her family in the magical terror attack on Elysia’s capital made sure of that. The attack took everyone the capital held and only left behind devastation. Katya was one of the lucky ones, making it out on the last train out of the city before it was left in ruin. She still remembers how the capital looked, sunlight gleaming off the precipice of the Center, their governmental building.

No, Katya doesn’t have much to live for. But she certainly has a lot of things to fight for. She fought for the legislation that would outlaw and kill those who possessed magic. She’s seduced any political enemy in her way, swaying them to her side with honeyed lies.

She’s given everything to make sure magical beings don’t kill innocents like they did thirty-seven years ago.

And now, Brynn Kelly and Alizarin Martin want to burn her plans down to the ground.

Character Introductions: Pyri Steele

Pyri Steele has always been powerful. At age twenty-five, she’s the youngest on Elysia’s Council and the most influential. It scares her competition, the public, potential lovers. It even scares her family how dangerous and formidable she’s become; at family reunions, people cast whispers and glances towards her and treat her like she’s royalty.

She may be powerful, yes, but she’s alone. It’s quite lonely at the top. Until a military base visit leads her to Brynn Kelly and sparks begin to fly. The curl of Brynn’s hair, the petal pink color of her lips, the twisted grin on her face when she laughs-- Pyri never really knew love hit her until it was too late.

But Pyri was powerful, and that put a target on her back. She couldn’t let the world know she had weaknesses, and so, they loved in secret.

Until Brynn was discovered as a harborer of magic, illegal in Elysia. Now her life, relationship, and the state of the country are in jeopardy as Pyri must choose between the citizen’s safety and who she loves.

It is not an easy choice and it will cost her everything.

“Liberty is dead and you are the killer. Do you feel any shred of regret?” Pyri’s lip curled upwards, her almond shaped eyes steady with hatred.

Katya Hawthorne was silent. For a moment, Pyri thought she had gotten through to the older woman until she began to chuckle. “I haven’t felt a shred of regret in thirty years. I’m not about to start now.”

“There’s a first time for everything,” Pyri hissed back, leaning forward across the meeting table, hand curled around her untouched glass of gin. “I am the revolution of this country and if I am the only person standing in your way, then I will be glad to stand alone.”
