"It is laziness, my dear Mary, that makes you wish to be a dramatist. It seems in prospect a short labour to write a play, and a long one to write a work consisting of volumes; and as much may be gained by the one as by the other. But as there is no royal road to geometry, so there is no idle and self-indulgent activity that leads to literary eminence.
As to the idea that you have no literary talent, for God’s sake, do not give way to such diseased imaginations. You have, fortunately, ascertained that at a very early period. What would you have done if you had passed through my ordeal? I did not venture to face the public till I was seven and twenty, and for ten years after that period could not contrive to write anything that anybody would read; yet even I have not wholly miscarried."
— William Godwin in a letter to his daughter Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley encouraging her to continue writing novels and dissuading her from writing plays. 27th February, 1824.
Just saw Dance Gavin Dance live last night and I had the opportunity to meet both Novelists and Wolf & Bear and I got them to sign the back of my dnp photocard that I had in my phone case !
One of the members of Wolf & Bear said something about it being like a Pokémon LOLLL they were all so sweet 😇
I was hoping I could meet dgd or The Fall of Troy too and have them sign it but they didn’t come out of their tour buses (we waited for like 2 hours it was lowkey embarrassing cus nobody else was waiting) and there kinda wasn’t room on the back of the card anymore 💔

My writer's block for the past two years
It feels almost like it's killing me. Slowly I'm realizing how miserable my life is without the ability to write, even the basic concept of spending my time on other things makes me exhausted.
At this point, I wish I was at a loss; but I know the cause to this writer's block.
I don't have anyone in my life who cares for my writing the same way I do. Not even slightly. I've been my own number 1 supporter since I've started writing. I've seen others who have their friends and family who check out their writing, supporting them, and even encouraging them to continue writing.
Yet, I have no one.
Not the pandering mother who thinks I wrote the best novel in the entire universe.
Not the genuinely confused friend who just wants to hype me up.
No lying strangers to tell me my stories are amazing masterpieces.
It's that delusion I often saw people warn to be wary of. To get real critiques and be ready for true criticism, yet that's all I know. I'm devoid of the blindly positive praise others are firstly exposed to.
Of course, you have to be there for yourself, but you can't do everything on your own. I guess that's my plea for help. I don't know what to do anymore or even where to begin.
My anxiety will convince me that it's not worth the mental strain to meet others who will only agree with these previous sentiments. At this point I'm beginning to think that it's true.
So here's to hoping that voice is wrong...
