Note: part 2 to In the Night, enjoy :)
The boisterous noise died down, and so did my tears. Sniffling softly, I reached across and wipe Elijah and Estelle's faces free of tears, and gave them the warmest smile I could muster.
Slowly I rose to my feet, and grabbed a hand of theirs in one of mine, and turned to face the double doors. There in all their glory stood the eldest Shelby brothers, Thomas in front, power radiating off of him Arthur and John stood on either side, guns peaking out of their holsters, peaky caps on a sharp angle.
John and Arthur both held a glass, but upon looking at my face, both dropped the glasses and let out a string of swear words, while Polly and Ada let out small rumblings of their own.
"Boy's, please go back down to the Garrison, I'd like to have a few words with Polly. John, Arthur, stay here and watch the other two," Thomas commanded, and everyone fell in line, obeying each word as if it were their lifeline.
Polly came to walk up besides me, while I stood still, my eyes wandering along John's figure, fleeting away when I felt his gaze land on me. Arthur was still incoherently mumbling, his figure rocking with each slur.
"Thomas, we'll speak together as a family," Polly stared, squaring her shoulders, pointing her chin down.
I felt a slight tug on both my hands, and looked down to see both Elijah and Estelle mimicking Polly's movements.
"As you wish," Thomas answered, closing the double doors, nudging both Arthur and John further into the room. John took a seat and harshly rubbed his face, while Arthur bent over him, whispering in his ear.
"How is Y/N still alive? Does that mean Finn is too?" Arthur asked, his voice still as loud as ever.
Polly and I nodded in sync, and then I opened my mouth to speak. "Polly faked my death, and Finn's in case things went south, and sent us away. It was also due to me having to look after two babies,"
John's head snapped up, and he looked at me and the two little ones, who's stances did not falter. In my peripheral, I saw a small smile grace Arthur's features, before he quickly covered it up.
"Are they both mine?" John asked in the awkward silence, and I shook my head.
"Only Estelle," I answered, looking down to my right, seeing Estelle look back up at me, the brightest grin on her face.
John slowly stood up and walked over, bending down in front of her, studying every aspect he could. Elijah peered around my form to make sure his 'sister'was safe, while puffing out his little chest.
"Estelle, la mia colomba, this is your Dada. The hero who taught in war," I said, and she leapt into John's arms.
While the two were having a moment, I took it out of my time to introduce Elijah to Arthur and Tommy, who both greeted him as family.
Like the saying goes: all good things in life come to their own end.

After serene moments as a broken family, John had to leave, to visit his wife, and his son. Estelle didn't want John to leave, and was heartbroken when he did. Elijah came to comfort her, while I sought comfort in speaking to Thomas about how John had been the past few years.
"He still loves you Y/N, very dearly. He's just confused, give him time. He has a wife now, a new family. I'm sure youd be able to understand," Thimas advised me.
