A Letter to the Man Who Tried to Play Me — and Failed
tw: online manipulation, emotional deception
——————————————————————————————
You showed up with honeyed words
and promises wrapped in poetry.
You told me I was “beautiful,”
“different,”
“understood.”
You slipped into my inbox like a dream —
sweet, slow, and strategic.
But this isn’t a love story.
It’s a warning.
And this letter is for the next version of you.
You moved fast.
Too fast.
Flattery, then fantasy.
You painted futures you hadn’t earned
and borrowed tenderness from books you didn’t write.
You wanted me to imagine love so clearly
that I’d forget to check the facts.
But I noticed.
The black bar under your photo.
The name that didn’t match.
The too-perfect timing.
The phrases I’ve seen a hundred times before
in stories shared by others who’ve been played
just like you tried to play me.
You thought I’d fall for the script.
But I’ve read it before.
I blocked you.
Not because I was scared.
Not because I was weak.
I blocked you because
I no longer offer softness to strangers
who come cloaked in false affection.
I don’t owe you a lesson.
But here’s one anyway:
Real connection doesn’t need fantasy.
It doesn't push for WhatsApp in 24 hours.
It doesn’t speak in recycled poetry.
It doesn’t wear someone else’s face.
To the next ‘Romeo’:
I see you coming.
I don’t hate you.
I just don’t believe you.
And if someone out there is reading this
wondering if they’re being played:
✨ Trust your gut.
✨ Ask the questions.
✨ Block without guilt.
✨ Walk away before your heart is handed to a mask.
I’m still here.
Soft.
Strong.
And unbothered.
Because I’m building a life rooted in truth —
one boundary at a time.
