     He was not truly sure of who she was nor what she was doing here but she came OFTEN in the garage where he worked as a receptionist. His leg hurt too much for him to truly work as a mechanic so he did that during the off hours. Still, it was a job and he was glad. Blue eyes went to her form as she rested her elbows on the counter.      “Well, a garage isn’t exactly the cleanest place to do so I’m afraid.”      Gaze drifted toward the open doors of the garage, snowflakes gently falling so as to rest on the sidewalk.      “Could find you a blanket though,”       he offered, raising an eyebrow, waiting for an answer. With the snow, the garage wasn’t very busy, for people preferred public transportation in such weather. He had time to find her a blanket.

     A small town always felt smaller once you made it big. As the state’s youngest governor and the catch of the nation, Will Conway split his time between Albany, New York City, and Washington DC these days, very little time for hometown gatherings in upstate NY. But here he was... more specifically, on Darcy Lewis’s doorstep. Gathering himself for what he hoped wouldn’t be as awkward as he feared, he pressed the doorbell, then stood waiting with his hands in his coat pockets.

“I know Darcy. I didn’t see this happening either. It’s okay to grieve. Do you need a Kleenex?”

Steve smirked at the small noise coming her mouth. He took her leg and pushed her up to carry her effortlessly. He hummed feeling her lips on his neck. “I won’t. There’s room on the counter and making coffee takes time. We can make the most of the waiting.”
