Interceptions
What are they?
In the Placidus house system (alternatively, Koch, amongst others) it happens when a house cusp skips a sign (and therefore the opposing house also misses the opposing sign) you have an intercepted sign.
So basically, a specific axis of your chart (in this case, the cancer-capricorn axis) finds itself āengulfedā by another axis: the one right before the āswallowedā sign (in this case, the gemini-sagittarius axis).Ā Furthermore, the house cusp that should be in the intercepted axis, instead targets the axis after the āswallowedā axis).
And what does that mean?
It is crucial to mention the closer you are to the poles (north and south), the more likely you are to find interceptions in a chart. If you understand astronomy, it might be easier to understand why. Always remember that astrology looks at the planets and asteroids from a geocentric model perspective.
Because of this, *i personally believe*, meaning YOU DONāT HAVE TO AGREE, that if you were born way up north or south, interceptions are probably not that meaningful in your chart. Simultaneously, i am not an expert and iām open to different opinions and perspectives if anyone has anything to say or question.
How do they translate?
Letās take the case of this chart: cancer is āswallowedā by the 10th house and the following house āhitsā leo instead. Similarly, capricorn is āswallowedā by the 4th house and the 5th house is in aquarius.
The 10th house (or MC, midheaven or medium coeli) represents generally speaking, your personal power, authority, your calling in life, your legacy, how people see you at your best, the energy you embody in your career (not necessarily work), etc.
The 11th house represents what drives you, your dreams, friendships, wealth, your sense of community, amongst other things.
According the this chart:
The 10th house is in gemini, so this area of life should be associated with communication, curiosity, traveling, multi-tasking, inquisitive and exciting mental challenges.Ā
But⦠cancer is included in this house (because of the interception) so what does that do? Imagine gemini is the leader of the pack and cancer is the child menace that comes in and turns things upside down because they want things done their own way. In summary, thereās a clash of wants and needs. So this gemini MC is accompanied by their little annoying sibling that wants to be chosen and get to do things even though they kinda ruin it.Ā
And then we got a āpieceā of leo in the 10th house. I like to call the 3rd sign in the intercepted house the āmediatorā. Itās basically the āvoice of reasonā. Leo reminds cancer (the intercepted sign) to chill and let gemini do its thing. In other words, because gemini is the 10th house and leo is the 11th house, leo gets cancer to not overpower gemini, if that makes sense.Ā
This sounds kind of confusing, right?Ā
In this case, the 10th house holds influence over 3 signs, and the sign thatās intercepted is trying to ācome outā and express itself. This is done in a way that, at first, may be difficult or chaotic, but it is possible.Ā
In the beginning, the person with an interception usually compensates in some other area of their lives in order to find some sort of balance. In the birth chart, this can manifest as having a duplication.Ā
What about duplications?
Typically, when thereās an interception somewhere in the chart, thereās also a duplication. This is not a rule and not always the case though. A duplication represents an axis that holds the entirety of a house, in this case, the 12th house.Ā
The virgo-pisces axis is, metaphor-wise, overworking, showing up in both the 11 and 12th areas of life. So these 2 houses show us where the cancer-capricorn ālackā went to instead. A little tiny interpretation *could be* (doesnāt necessarily have to be the case) that this person overgives and doesnāt establish boundaries very well, etc, so as to compensate for the lack of healthy emotional expression and self-love.
Are interceptions ārealā?
I think yes and no.Ā
If you study astrology following for e.g a whole signs system, then no, interceptions donāt even exist; the interpretation made possible by systems like this will be accurate and make sense.
But if you study with the placidus system (or others) they do exist and they can show up in a chart. They provide more details and nuance to your reading and information youāre able to obtain.Ā
Since this is my chart, i can tell you that both whole signs and placidus, i.e considering no interceptions and considering interceptions respectively, are accurate. What iāve come to realize from my chart and other peopleās charts is that interceptions kind of work like a square aspect, the struggle is more internal than external. Itās about doing inner work to restore the balance and learn how to constructively express and access your interception axis.Ā
For e.g my cancer stellium in one system is in the 11th house, which make sense according to what i know about the events that have happened in my life, but the 10th house cancer placements (according to placidus) also make sense, especially when i consider the way i think and feel, like recurring thought patterns, insecurities, emotions i repress.
I tend to overwork myself (virgo-pisces axis) to prove my worth and value, because i think that equals love (cancer-capricorn axis). I am learning that that is wrong, nonetheless when i was younger that was definitely all that i knew and followed.Ā
I think over time people will āfixā their interceptions and find something better and healthier. Overall an interception *in my opinion* kind of works like a square aspect and it shows an internal struggle.Ā
Whole signs will still tell you all you need to know about the events in your life and some tiny details, but non-equal house systems, like placidus, they give you other tiny details and interceptions are one of those.Ā
if you want my advice and if you have an interception, read and learn about your placements according to whole signs and complement it with placidus, since it might give you clues as to what you should work on, especially within yourself.

> Intercepted planets > P3 <
Intercepted sun > Its hard for others to see you for who you are. Your personality is a lot to handle, and others typically will label you an attention seeker. Given the extremity of the energies within the sun; you are in-fact capable of shining like no other, you just need to learn how to handle all that attention. Intercepted moon > Its hard for others to have empathy for you, considering your weeping a lot or telling everyone "iM fInE". You are very emotional, but this allows you to have a greater capacity for understanding emotions like no one else. Or maybe your a statue always trying remind everyone your a statue and not human. Intercepted Mercury > You sound retarded. but your actually very smart, you just struggle to explain yourself given how much crap is whirring within your mind. Intercepted Venus > You are afraid of love because you crave love. You've been rejected a lot, and this has made you ironically more attractive; because everyone wants to fix the person seemingly unfixable. Intercepted Mars > You are constantly switching between being strong and weak, and this actually makes you appear more fierce to everyone in the room (because we never know which one is on display) Intercepted Jupiter > You have terrible luck, but actually you have good luck. Given your circumstances/ predicament its easy to call you unlucky, however the fact you survived those circumstances we can actually call you lucky. Intercepted Saturn > You are the laziest hardest worker. Your the type to not try in activities where you probably should try. but maximise your effort in something that doesn't require it. you search for authority in strange ways, and you get it more often than not. But since you don't want responsibility you self sabotage a lot. Intercepted Uranus > You are pretty fucking weird, but its hard for you to admit that. Everyone else looks at you like; "How do you exist" meanwhile your thinking your not much different to everyone else (you can just see everyones uniqueness easily) considering you yourself are very much of a "wat da fuq" Intercepted Neptune > You are extremely insensitive but then become very sensitive at the drop of a hat. I believe this placement can smell bullshit easily, hence the insensitivity, but when you do show some sensitivity its like where tf did that come from? You are so lost in your imagination and it shows > so you are constantly waking up from your delusions, only reinforcing the fact that you are indeed a delusional person. Intercepted Pluto > okay you guys are so secretive its almost impossible to trust you. Ik your secretive because you feel powerless but the reality is the more you hide the more I don't trust you, but your addicted to knowing my secrets....

If your birth chart ever looked like this:
or even this:
⦠congrats: you have an interception. An interception points to a house in your chart that is occupying two signs, also known as a house 'swallowing' one sign. You can see in the examples given above, that there are houses that rule two signs (the so called interceptions), while there are simultaniously signs ruling two houses (the duplications). In the examples above, the two people only have two interceptions and two duplications, but there are people who can have up to 4 or even 6 interceptions in their birth chart, depending on how close to the poles of the earth they were born. Interceptions are only visible if you use Placidus, Koch or any other house system that will not split up the degrees of the 12th houses equally (30°), or else one house couldn't 'swallow' another sign.
⦠The intercepted sign in your chart is known as a 'hidden' area ā what is meant by that? It's basically a signs qualities that are hard to access, seemingly 'overshadowed' by the sign before. An intercepted sign points to an area in our life that has no own house it can rule over, sitting in the shadows of the sign before it.
⦠How come the intercepted sign is hard to access and tap into? With interceptions, we will find that these characteristics of the sign that is intercepted were not supported and thus properly developed in our early upbringing. For example if you have Leo intercepted in the 1st, chances are being proudly present and allowing the self to shine in the moment and to search for ways to playfully interact with your environment wasn't something that the people in your close environment supported or other qualities were more important - we look at the sign before Leo here, so Cancer qualities were supported and expected.
⦠This is another aspect important to notice in interceptions: they always come in pairs, aka their opposite sign. If you have Aries intercepted, Libra will be intercepted too, thus it's important to see that the natural balance of the Aries-Libra axis is 'damaged' in some sort of way, as the signs before Aries and Libra (Pisces and Virgo) want to take over the role of the single ruler of the house these two signs it it. So it's important to get to know the transition of meaning between the signs. Example: Pisces is the dream, while Aries becomes the dream in real life. Pisces rings in the last days of winter, while Aries is the new life and rings in the blooming spring and embodies the foreign dream with enthusiasm and action.
⦠As the interceptions always come in pairs, knowing the general themes the sister-sign pairs embody is from importance as well.
⦠Interceptions can also be seen as areas in your life that weren't fully 'ready' to be accessible and discovered by you yet, hence, they hide in the shadows of the sign before them. This can manifest on a more psychological level, often times it can be in the literal sense as well, so that your physical environment was the 'lack of' that made things inaccessible or harder to get and thus actualize. Generally speaking though, the intercepted sign is an area in life one only understands better the more they grow, only then, one will realize the blockage and confusion, as well as possible misguidance that can happen in intercepted houses.
⦠Intercepted planets: if you have a planet in an intercepted sign, it is intercepted. Compared to empty intercepted houses, an intercepted planet can be even harder to 'unlock', because the planets qualities aren't fully or healthily developed, thus, leading to 'blooming late' in those planets. Therefore, empty intercepted houses are still easier to work with than empty intercepted houses, because the planet is an active part of our life that can not healthily express and manifest itself.
⦠Interceptions bottle up a lot of energy, therefore they can act out impulsively and seemingly overflow, leading to the individual recognizing the parts of themself they have dismissed, malnourished or forgotten. Therefore, they can act out negatively as well, as the native forcefully tries to integrate these qualities into their life, without understanding the hidden motivation behind the why. Interceptions usually carry some sort of 'origin story' as to why the intercepted signs qualities are not properly expressed, so it's important to look at the reasoning.
⦠Now that we've settled the basics, what to do with the interceptions? There are two ways in order to active the intercepted house, as well as to 'make up for it'.
⦠How to make up for it? We look at the duplication here. The duplication is a sign that rules two houses in order to make up for the intercepted area in the chart. You can see the duplicated sign as your area of expertise in that sense. There is a big focus on these signs qualities and chances are you early learned to develop them well. When you have an overview over your interceptions and duplications, don't forget to look ate the modalities and elements of the intercepted/duplicated signs/houses, as this will give you an even more in depth understanding of these dynamics.
⦠How to activate the intercepted sign? Here we have to look at the ruling planets of the intercepted signs (e.g.: if Leo is intercepted look at Sun). In this way, we can see what energy we need to tap in and understand in order to activate and healthily support our intercepted sign.
⦠Important reminder, please read: It is important to look at everything in combination here, from the interceptions, to the duplication and especially the signs and houses in combination, one interpretation on it's own will not bring the full picture to the surface.

⦠Aries-Libra: This is about one's sense of self in relation to others. In fact, it's about how the individual assert the self and how one relates to others, as well as how you integrate those two components healthily. Assertion and compromise can become foreign abilities, here the sense of self can also be orientated on others: there is a difficulty actualizing dreams and plans, as well as communicating them to people or not getting lost in the ideas and plans of others and mistaken them as ones own plans. Autonomy is challenged, changing ones path can become difficult, same with mutually deciding with others to set a path together. Here, one become too detached from ego and ego of a group/a connection, one can feel too detached from situations, connections, even life itself sometimes, being more about intellectualizing or fantasizing of how things are or should be without feeling a very personal link to it. The individual can have a difficulty with merging too much with someone else in a connection (taking on their ego and individuality) or being too detached and separated from others, being more of a 'loner'.
⦠1st and 7th house: This can feel like part of ones identity is missing, something waiting to be let out and manifest itself finally. One can feel 'incomplete' and misunderstood in their social connections as they feel people don't see them as who they really are or will not accept and give them what them what they need. One's part of self was not appropriate/encouraged to grow into, they had to be someone else in their environment. Can create feelings of 'people don't really see me for me' or who the person thinks they are in their head. Can lead to difficulties in connections due to possible in-authenticity/ sudden change of character.
⦠Taurus-Scorpio: Stability is a big theme here, an individual who has troubles identifying what is valuable in their life and what they should stick to, not knowing what is good for them/not having a natural sense of dedication for something they see value in/see as worthy. An unhealthy relationship to material goods can occur, due to not experiencing the privilege to endorse in them/endorse in them healthily. Here, one can also forget what they can bring to the table and stop cultivating what one perceives as valuable, there's a tendency to forget ones own power and being able to provide for ones own safety and especially maintaining it. There is a possibility that the individual looks at others to bring them a sense of value. Having troubles actually following through with plans and ideas, or not being able to relax and enjoy what you have or earned, possibly leading to greed/a fear of losing what one has. That inability to share can also be about emotional depths and the own insights/truths, vulnerability is difficult to express, thus one always remains in the status quo.
⦠2nd and 8th house: Insecurity is a general theme here, not growing up with enough financial, material and emotional security. Qualities of the self are not perceived as valuable/where not perceived as valuable from others or one wasn't seen as valuable because the intercepted signs qualities are hard to develop, ultimately leading to see that the repressed characteristics in one are also of value and can help one regaining material but also inner stability (strengthening self-esteem). Insecurity shows in intimate connections, there could be a parts in the individual that were left unaddressed but really needed in order to move through any negativity and become more self-empowered, as well as to notice what one needs on an intimate base from the people close to them. One can thus not recognize their inner/hidden power, as well as be afraid of what is safe to be shared with others ā part of the self can become 'taboo', possibly due to being encouraged to silence that part or forcefully burying it deep in the psyche.
⦠Gemini-Sagittarius: This can feel harder to expand ones mind and form an opinion of your own based on what one takes on and learn from the world. The axis of information, knowledge and believes, ones horizon can feel limited here, often times due to ideas and facts that have been given to us as the only answer or ultimate truth. The expansion of the mind can feel hindered by not knowing how to mentally and spiritually leave a current situation and set the self free to search for a clearer coast. There's also a general fear of leaving what is familiar, physically or intellectually. There can be rigid believes that hold the individual in a tight grip, someone is afraid to leave ones bubble they grew up in, pointing to a general pessimism/suspicion towards anything new or not ordinary/more creative. Relating to others or getting information from others, as taking wisdom from others because the self apparently can't have the answers can be common here. Overindulgence in information, but not getting any real value and use out of it. Possible over-consumption of knowledge or only reducing knowledge/learning to only the subjects that 'really matter/are necessary'. There is a lack of fun in exploring.
⦠3rd and 9th house: What does one want to communicate and for what reason? There is a side to the individual that feels like it isn't worthy of being communicated, that wasn't perceived as 'intelligent' enough, could include judgment of ideas and a style of speaking/learning and seeing the world in educational institutes, the neighborhood, siblings or peers. The individuals 'why' in this world seems flawed, their words and self expression is based on what exactly? There is a chance they can't put their finger on it themself. Could lead to possible mislead in life, a 'shock' of realizing that one is running away from a part of themself. Can result into literal inability to move away and roam the world. Siblings can be the reason for why one had to keep certain thoughts and ideas to the self, why someone had to stay 'quiet'.
⦠Cancer-Capricorn: Not knowing how to nurture the self. Difficulty caring and providing for the self and possibly even for others too, because there is a lack of emotional depth and connectivity, even if one is able to connect mentally with others. It can result out of a lack of care at home, there's a general question of where home is and how one can create a comfortable, stable and healthy home life. Feeling like having no true roots, impossible to build anything stable and profitable on ones own roots can be common. Having troubles in stabilizing any emotions in people, as well as material security, one can feel like they haven't have the inner stability to root themselves successfully in the world. Flexibility and logic was more valued than emotions/emotional care, as well as material stability. A general feeling of powerlessness/defeat can be a common feeling, as one is not able to set their believes and ambitions in stone, a lack of discipline and working consistency, a general sense of impatience.
⦠4th and 10th house: Here, the problems resulted in the home life and manifested later in ones public life as well, showing clearly when it comes to the reputation, here the intercepted signs qualities were particularly not supported and encouraged at home, possibly due to a parental figure having certain expectations of the child that left them empty, but it could have come from anyone else from the family/a general family/generational issue as well. Problems with the parental figures are relived at the job/with other authoritative figures later in life. Disliking that one can not be in public what they want to be seen as or possibly they need to hide particular parts of themself to succeed in their career/in the public sphere. Someone having to 'mask' a hidden part of their self in public.
ā¦Leo-Aquarius: Not seeing ones uniqueness, ones individuality (mind and heart) being mistaken as 'common' and thus resulting into believing one has to 'stay in lane'. 'Acting out' was possibly taught to be avoided, one shouldn't have taken the spotlight, one feels like it's hard dedicating time and effort blindly on the self and doing things 'egoistically', out of fun and doing what simply feels good for the self. There could have been occasions where one was falsely made to believe that being focused on the self isn't good, that one was 'too selfish', because they weren't putting the work into others. Stepping mentally as well as physically outside of the box wasn't encouraged because focus was put on caring for what's in front of you, possibly the family or anything that 'really mattered', so there was no time thinking outside of the box to begin with. Having a fear of what will happen when one is against the norm, possibly having been alienated once or fearing what will happen when they get alienated.
⦠5th and 11th house: Showing where one was forbidden to be oneself and where someone's special talents were discredited or taken from them, where the light was (purposefully) dimmed and what seems either inappropriate and is demonized but actually really craved in ones self expression. Could be due to having to be responsible for others, especially children. Due to certain parts about the creative self being not supported, one could have troubles having any future aspirations or hopes for their future (loss of imagination), troubles finding a group to support or seeing one of a part of group that supports one. Difficulty with friend groups or finding like minded people, one can become closed off or want people to appreciate and support their creativity here. Feeling a sense of hopelessness because they can't let the sun shine on them, so they have troubles seeing the future and other people in another, brighter light.
⦠Virgo-Pisces: A lack of organizational skills and taking care of the self physically and spiritually. Here could find someone either growing up without having to develop Virgos and Pisces skillset, either very ego-focused and relying on other people, or simply because there was generally no sense of organization around them, meaning one hadto become self focused. Therefore, there can also be a disconnect to anything spiritual, one focuses on the physical realm and what has to be done now, being dependent on anything set on believes, trusting something you can't imagine and can't physically grasp and is not set in the here and now right in front of you can become hard. There is a general apprehensiveness towards the acceptance of how things are and surrendering and fixing them. 'Tiding up' ones environment as well as ones self (spiritually) could be a neglected necessity.
⦠6th and 12th house: This interception can be a bit difficult because even though the intercepted 6th house might be easier to notice, the 12th house interceptions isn't always. Ultimately, it will show in the relationship to mind and body. Anything unresolved in the intercepted 12th house can manifest in the body, and thus try to reclaim the attention of the individual. The individual might reject the shadow house of the intercepted 12th house, thinking this can't be who they are from deep within, potentially sabotaging the self into disbelieve. Next to sudden issues related to health/the body, there could also be a difficulty about working for others, which can also manifest in the job/work field. There can be a general lack of understanding why certain qualities are important in organizing ones life, making it harder to maintain a stabler lifestyle, thus also a stabler mind-body relationship.
ā© Duplicated signs ā©
⦠Aries-Libra: Good understanding of the self and how to insert the self in social settings, knowing how one functions alone and with others and thus having a good understanding of social contexts/skills. A good understanding of when to be alone and when to lead others, knowing the balance of being headstrong and moving forward, as well as slowing down, listening and negotiating.
⦠Taurus-Scorpio: Knows how to get what they want because the individual has strong tenacity. Knowing what is good for them and what brings them value, as well as making things valuable, strong moral codex and fixed ideas. Making more out of what one already has, being choosier with what one gives away to others due to heightened self awareness, being focused on cultivating valuable things for the self, focusing on self-empowerment and generally being aware of ones own power, as well as regenerating quickly.
⦠Gemini-Sagittarius: Here, the mind becomes the biggest weapon. Grasping new concepts and being able to get out of ones own bubble/comfort zone might come easier, as the individual not only naturally soaks up lots of information, but can also easily build a mental connection to others, though they can be very fixated on logical reasoning/coherent patterns. Walking encyclopedias/ manual, mentally very adaptive. Communication can be from advance (no matter if written or spoken).
⦠Cancer-Capricorn: Knows how to balance inner and outer needs as well as expectations, the inner security brings them the solid foundation everything they want can be build on later in life. Having great endurance, because acknowledging real life circumstances one has to deal with brings acceptance and discipline, while the emotional stability gives also makes one regenerate emotionally ā the last point can also be achieved through others, others (the ones cancer considers 'family') being their regeneration point.
⦠Leo-Aquarius: Knows their purpose, confident in ones individuality and wearing it as a batch. Is focused on creating their own place in society, rejection is a form of adjusting to a new course, dancing to the beat of their own drum (or with like-minded people) is very important here and thus gifts them also with a lot of self-reliance and self-sufficiency. Generally makes own aware of the fact that differences create a beautiful contrast to others, individuality is celebrated. Even if their isn't a clear goal/direction they follow in life, the experience of (re)defining and reinforcing themself while being on the way is what gives the joy.
⦠Virgo-Pisces: Can bring a good understanding of the connection between body and soul. Here, the dream and reality can work really well together, giving one the benefit to not only dream extensively, but also be aware of the real life rules to make this dream ones reality. One is aware of the limitations and/or requirements (organization), but also very in touch with the spiritual, intuitive and creative side that guides one towards meaning in life. Spirituality and the mundane go hand in hand here. One is focused on analyzing and working on (or even with) own difficulties, trying to deeply grasps any concepts and trying to achieve inner, spiritual growth, by understanding the bigger picture through the details.
ā© Duplicated Houses ā©
⦠1st and 2nd house - 7th and 8th house: Ones identity and value/self worth correspond to the other here, who 'I am' and what I own and have merge. I can increase/decrease my self worth through my identity, meanwhile my material stability/possession and my self worth influence my identity. Developing a strong sense of self-worth is empathized here, as well as being strong in character. Social connections can become another focal point, in a way, people can be your source of energy or be of value for you. Business and intimate connections can mix here, trying to duplicate (material) worth by working together.
⦠2nd and 3rd house - 8th and 9th house: Ones close environment and self-worth correspond with each other here, what and who your surround yourself with might have an even stronger impact on how you feel about yourself and the ability to maintain material security, your environment can really set the tone for your self-esteem. This can also point to seeing greater chances in how to make your surroundings more valuable (putting resources of any kind into them), or seeing where you can get value out of them, potentially increasing your self-esteem. Here, one also develops a strong faith/believe/life philosophy after any experience that broke their security and thus the individual can be very resilient. There is a chance someone will deepen their 'truth' by gathering more knowledge on it, either by learning/studying on it or by experience. Can give the individual a sense of fearlessness.
⦠3rd and 4th house 9th and 10th house: Communication/logic and the heart merge here, thus leading to someone who can transfer and dissect emotional messages through the spoken and written word easily, here, the early education and the home might have merged (studying at home, school feeling like 'home'). Learning is part of the default system of the individual. The individual could put an empathize on expansion and not growing stagnant, even in their career later on. The deep emotional understanding of people and communication skills help the individual communicating their higher set of believes and philosophies to others, one is motivated to leave a mark in society because they have a deep set believe that fuels their inner flame and energizes them.
⦠4th and 5th house 10th and 11th house: Allowing our vulnerable self to be shown to others and be expressed creatively and be looked at. This can create a very honest, authentic individual, unafraid to let ones 'ugly sides' be reflected in their performance to others. Chances are also creative, unique self expression was encouraged at home and is part of ones emotional outlets (eg. drawing, cooking, dancing to process emotions). This can also lead to someone needing to be in a cycle of people that they feel mentally as well as emotionally connected to in their work space or generally speaking a career path that allows them to meet a lot of like-minded people. Their compassion wants to be transformed into activism, the ego here is bound to be giving to the collective/the future, possibly caring a lot about future/younger generations or the prevention/betterment of (parts of) society/social groups.
⦠5th and 6th house 11th and 12th house: Creative self expression and work, as well as the mundane/daily life merge here. The individual could feel a strong urge to have a creatively expressive job, being able to express themself freely in their work space, or to have a job that is in a creative/artistic field/children likewise ones daily routine could revolve around ones ability to have time to have fun/be creative. The individual could feel strongly connected to the collective, working with or for people with a higher goal or motivation in mind, possibly being guided a spiritual believe or seeking out communities/people that share the same believe/motivation. The individual could be very sure of how exactly they want to leave a mark on this world/how they want to leave this planet.
⦠6th and 7th house-1st and 12th house: Here, the individual might find themselves naturally very giving and dedicated to other people and/or in general dedicated to their service for others/society. Others show how we can improve and manage ourself better by helping/managing them/their life. The strong focus the individual has to their work and co-workers can help them unravel the side of them they have a harder time accepting/integrating as they might meet many people embodying their 7th house signs energy at their work place. The 12th house themes of the subconscious self can unknowingly into ones identity. The individual might be very focused on self-improvement (or self destruction). Despite that though, the person can be very in touch with their spiritual side/spirituality in general and likes to carry this side of them on the outside, possibly liking to guide/help others. Due to the 1st and 12thhouse duplicated, the individual can be hard to read/understand for others (at first glance).
Interceptions (and how they can point to what our trauma is)
ᦠAries & Libra Intercepted: These two signs being intercepted can point towards a feeling of inadequacy in leadership positions, especially when they're the ones that are forced to call the shots. Also, this interception can point to a native who doesn't like to stand up for themselves in fear of "upsetting the other person." They need to learn that they're put into these leadership positions for a reason and that it's okay to upset others -- not everyone is going to like you and that's okay.
ᦠTaurus & Scorpio Intercepted: These two signs being intercepted can point towards someone who is always in "give, give, give" mode towards the other people in their life, but they don't realize that they deserve and need to be giving to themselves too. Additionally, these natives need to work on their self-worth, self-confidence, and self-esteem. Don't let other people dictate your worth as a person, which is something these natives need to work on: it's okay to give to yourself and not others.
ᦠGemini & Sagittarius Intercepted: These two signs being intercepted can point towards someone who feels dumb, inadequate, and as if they don't have anything to show others about how smart and capable they are; they're not able to show off how much they know. They're terrified of coming across as dumb, stupid, idiotic, etc but that couldn't be further from the truth: people enjoy hearing what you have to say, so speak up! This is something the native needs to work working on: letting yourself be heard.
ᦠCancer & Capricorn Intercepted: These two signs being intercepted can point towards someone who has a lot of issues with showing how much they care, love, and adore the other people in their life because one or both of their parents taught them that feelings, emotions, etc were a "weakness" and weren't to be expressed to the outside world. These are the kinds of people who always think they need to put on a brave face, but you don't. This is something these natives need to work on: feeling your emotions and not apologizing for it.
ᦠLeo & Aquarius Intercepted: These two signs being intercepted can point towards someone who constantly feels the need to be the class clown, feels the constant need to make other people laugh, and they feel the constant need to always be there and hyping people up because no one ever did it for them. This is something the natives need to work on: realizing that it's not your job to always be the one making other people laugh. It's okay to let other people know that you're hurting, sad, angry, etc.
ᦠVirgo & Pisces Intercepted: These two signs being intercepted can point towards someone who, like Cancer and Capricorn intercepted, feel the need to constantly pretend as if their emotions don't exist because of the way they grew up. They were taught that their only value in life is what they're able to give and do for others; they were taught that they're not worthy if they're only being themselves. This is something the natives need to work on: sit down with yourself, process your emotions, and let yourself feel.

Interceptions
In this post Iām not going to go over in detail what interceptions are or how to spot them in the natal chart but I would like to share how they show up in my own life experience.
(Only relevant if you use the placidus/quadrant system of house division)
I have a Gemini-Sagittarius interception in my 11th and 5th houses. Simply put, this means, according to the psychological explanation behind interceptions, that the environment or climate that I grew up in didnāt allow these signs to rule over any domain of my life. Instead, these signs ended up being swallowed and lost within a house ruled by another sign. In my case, Scorpio is the ruler of my 5th house. Iāve always dreaded āhaving funā and going to birthday parties growing up because I felt emotionally threatened and isolated. It was not pleasant, yet I forced myself to go because I felt pressured to. My parents didnāt help with this either⦠they felt that it was necessary for me to go because otherwise I would āmiss outā or risk being āaloneā. Of course, the fear permeated the whole situation in typical Scorpio 5th house fashion and I felt more alone than ever. I have never felt comfortable going to parties because it makes me extremely drained and I actually end up hating everyone for having a good time. Long story short, I was told that āthis is supposed to be funā when it never was for me ā and I felt like there was something wrong, that I had to explain myself. I can, sometimes, get glimpses of the Sagittarian freedom in some situations that are not as pressured and planned. This particular house has a little bit of a lose-lose energy to it ā I canāt have fun because Iām too aware of the dominance game and need for survival.
Having Sagittarius intercepted in the 5th means that my way of exploring and intuiting meaning was not able to have a legitimate place, for whatever reason. Iāve always been searching for āthe truthā, but itās something that doesnāt have its own ānatural placeā in my life. I have to justify it because the environment doesnāt support it. Itās crammed in awkwardly and people donāt understand it. They almost feel sorry for me, which I hate. Pluto is intercepted here as well. I pursue knowledge on my own with intense stubbornness, yet itās somehow lost⦠as if Iām doing it despite my surroundings. With Pluto here, I donāt give up, I donāt bend to other peopleās wills in this sphere of life, but sadly, this power seems to be āmisplacedā because it ādoesnāt matterā.
As for Gemini intercepted in the 11th, it would seem that Iāve not really had the easiest time expressing my thoughts and opinions on collective matters. It was never really received well by my parents because theyāve always seemed to think that it was too unreasonable or odd. I have Taurus ruling my 11th house, which makes me a bit lazy in keeping up with world events ā I donāt really ācare that muchā unless people get to know me better and uncovers my Gemini side that has a lot of opinions and thoughts on what is taking place on a larger scale. It takes someone special to be able to listen because people generally think that I have not thought about anything concerning collective issues ā that I donāt know what Iām āsupposed to knowā. I know a lot of things, but itās not the kind of information that people deem relevant. It seems like intercepted signs has a way of not coming through because they're working outside the box of what the environment allows for.

My sister has an Aquarius-Leo interception in the 2nd and 8th houses. Capricorn consequently rules her 2nd house and Cancer rules her 8th house. She has always wanted to earn her own money and to have her own money to spend. Sheās very aware of the amount she has and aims to be strategic about resources. However, Neptune and Uranus are intercepted in Aquarius. Although it might not seem like it to people who donāt know her well enough, she is quite generous with her resources ā she spends her money freely ā which isnāt always the best thing to do. She gives in order to get back in equal amount. Possessions are important to her but she doesnāt really appreciate them in the physical sense. Growing up, she always wanted more things - she was never satisfied, which is quite typical of Neptune in this house. She can help people out financially because she sympathize with them. She considers other people's lack/abundance of money as her own, although it might not be in her own best interest to do so. While Capricorn makes her calculating in this sphere at first, sheās very carefree with money when it comes down to it, which our parents never liked. Sheās not opposed to lending people things and giving freely because āI will just make more moneyā as she says ā and sheās right. Capricorn on the cusp of the 2nd actually makes her capable of this.
With Cancer ruling her 8th, her approach to other peopleās resources and value seems to be through expressing and noticing a need for care. She really is the needy baby that becomes sad when people donāt live up to her expectations and give her what she needs. She becomes whiny and moody with things that she canāt control. If the food that was cooked by someone else isnāt to her liking sheās genuinely distressed or when someone of our immediate family didnāt tell her about something she would throw a typical Cancer temper tantrum (sheās a Libra Moon after all with very sensitive taste). She still does this. When asking for money, she would always become very sweet and caring, trying to connect to the other person through a mutual feeling or emotion. Of course, it would seem a little bit manipulative. Itās only in later years that Iāve seen the intercepted Leo coming out a bit more. Sheās able to take another personās value as her own which is a beautiful thing. Thereās no competition or one-upmanship going on. She has the capacity to genuinely gain a stronger sense of self through validating and confirming someone elseās value. āThe better things are for you, the better they are for meā is the statement. This attitude, however, was not really encouraged growing up, there had to be a mutual feeling component ā a āclosenessā and emotional neediness in order to get anything from our parents or anyone else for that matter. Having Leo and Aquarius intercepted in this way generally means that value based on her own unique contribution to society and her own sense of self importance wasnāt easily accessed. It wasnāt possible to simply confirm one's own rights and other people's rights in her pursuit of value (material and emotional) because it wasnāt deemed appropriate or wasnāt easy to express.
Iāve been studying my own chart trying to understand the interceptions and what not but I find it very fascinating that my 5th/11th house axis is intercepted but Leo and Aquarius are the doubled up signs and the sun (my chart ruler) and Saturn (Aquariusās co-ruler) are intercepted (along with other planets but whatever). Looking at the intercepted signs rulers (Jupiter and Mercury), theyāre in the 6th/12th house axis. My nodes are also in the 5th/11th house axis. Slowly but surely Iām piecing together what this means for me :)
Also I had another question answer it whenever you feel like. I saw my card and I am Gemini rising so according to that I should have :
2nd house cancer and chart should go on like that right ?
But I have 2nd house also Gemini then 3rd house Cancer 7th & 8th house Sagittarius... is that normal or did I print the wrong chart?
I won't sat that I am new to astrology I know how each sign acts in each planet but this is really confusing me š„²
Oh this is an amazing question actually and a pretty common thing I see!! I'm so so happy to have a chance to explain! This answer has a lot of different answers within it, hopefully this all makes sense, but let me know if you need any other clarification!!!
First, you didnāt do/calculate anything wrong! This is something called a duplication/interception (I will explain these below), which happens pretty often when charts are drawn using the Placidus house system (the default house system most websites use to draw up your chart for you). It will be more helpful for me to quickly touch on house systems before going into interceptions/duplications!
HOUSE SYSTEMS:
If you arenāt super familiar, the house systems are the different ways of dividing up the houses. Thereās SO many different house systems, but the three most popular/common tend to be Placidus, Equal & Whole (Whole Sign house system is especially common among traditional astrologers). Iāve seen the Koch system used a lot as well but I honestly donāt have immense experience testing it out, and itās not as popular as the other three from what Iāve seen.
Thereās not an agreed upon best house system! Everyone has different opinions. My biggest recommendation is to look at your chart in Placidus, Equal and Whole (more info below on how to do this). Your whole chart will probably stay almost the same, except youāll notice some planets likely change houses. Make note of the differences between the three charts, Google the meanings, and stick with the house system that has placements you resonate more with! Ie: If your Placidus chart has Venus in 4th, but your Equal & Whole have it in 3rd, but you relate way more to a 4th house Venus, you might prefer the Placidus system.
Personally, I nearly always use Placidus. I relate most to my Placidus chart, almost everyone Iāve read for relates more to theirs. I also find value in interceptions/duplications (among Placidus/Equal/Whole, interceptions are only possible in Placidus). But this is just my opinion! Lots of astrologers would entirely disagree with me, so itās really up to you which to use āŗļø
Hereās an example of a chart in the three different systems. Youāll notice Placidus is the only one with interceptions/duplications:
In Placidus, houses can be of any size. In Equal house system, houses are always exactly thirty degrees, and start from the degree of the Ascendant (in this chart, the first house starts at the Ascendant of 24 degrees Libra, so the second house starts in 24 degrees Scorpio, third house in 24 degree Sagittarius, and so forth). In Whole Signs house system, the houses always span the exact thirty degrees of every sign, right from beginning to end.
HOW TO TRY USING DIFFERENT HOUSE SYSTEMS:
Go to astro.com, make an account and enter your birth informationĀ
Hover over free horoscopes, click extended chart selection
ClickĀ āoptions for zodiac and housesā, select the different house system you want from the drop down menu (Placidus/default are the same thing, for Whole Signs donāt click the one that says Aries & for Equal donāt select the one that says Midheaven, just choose the regular Equal)
Hit click here to show chart, and youāre all done!
DUPLICATIONS/INTERCEPTIONS:
So, you decide to stick with Placidus, which leads us to what the hell duplications & interceptions are! Every time you have duplications, youāll have interceptions; and vice versa. Youāll always have two signs & four houses duplicated, and then two houses + two signs intercepted. Letās take a look at a chart I made up above with interceptions & duplications:
So, the pink highlights are duplications whereas the purple highlight is showing the interceptions (sorry it might be difficult to see/you may need to open in new tab - just right click image open in new tab). Duplications are when two houses are in the same sign. Interceptions are when a sign isĀ āswallowedā by houses aka no houses are in that sign. Normally, a chart should have one house in each of the twelve signs, no more and no less.
In short, duplicated signs hold more power in the chart as they govern two areas of life instead of one. Intercepted signs are blocked as they governĀ āno area of lifeā (in theory). Any planets in intercepted signs/houses are considered intercepted planets. In this chart, we can see Capricorn, Cancer, Mercury, Sun, 3rd house & 9th house are intercepted. Opposite signs & houses are ALWAYS intercepted and duplicated together, never alone. On the other hand, Libra, Aries, 1st, 6th, 7th, & 12th houses, and Moon, Pluto are duplicated.
As I said before, interceptions are blockages. We have issues accessing and expressing these energies. According to an astrologer whose site I enjoy (bobmarkastrologer), interceptions also break the balanced link between opposite signs. Normally opposite signs work together to balance one another in your chart, but with interceptions, theyāre unable too. He gives a Pisces/Virgo example in the link I attached thatās super helpful (especially for you, since you should have Pisces/Virgo intercepted)! He also explains interception and duplication pairs. For this person, having 3rd/9th/Mercury intercepted; all communication houses/planets, theyāre likely going to have huge issues with clear, concise communication. They may often feel like they canāt properly express their emotions and ideas, or people frequently misunderstand them and take what they say the wrong way. Additionally, they may have a lot of travel troubles (ie: whenever they take the bus itās late, when they go overseas their flight is always delayed/they miss their flights, etc), as well as issues in school (teachers donāt like them, they feel unfairly graded, they struggle with typical school structures, etc).
Duplications on the other hand, give us that excess energy; these are our strengths. These energies come naturally to us and can be used to our advantage.Ā A common theory is that duplications help us balance out and work through our interceptions. They kind of makeup for that blocked energy interceptions have. So they key to working through your intercepted signs would be looking at your duplicated signs. In the chart I showed above, for example, Moon/Pluto are duplicated. Specifically in the 12th house. This could mean that personās strengths lie in their emotions and creativity; through artistic outlets they can express themselves better and convey their thoughts and feelings more clearly (solution to their interception). This is just one example!
For your case, you have Gemini/Sagittarius duplicated in 1st/2nd and 7th/8th, therefore Pisces/Virgo should be intercepted in 4th/10th (unless I am doing my math wrong..sorry fried brain today). You can read more about those hereĀ and here!Ā If anyoneās interested, I can make a full post on these with my personal interpretations later!
TL;DR: Change your house system from Placidus to Equal or Whole. This should fix this problem! Or, look into interceptions and duplications as I mentioned above, I think theyāre extremely interesting and valuable.
