Sp/sx primal side
Sp is not sx
Mistaking sp for sx is a thing. One element of sp is the pleasure principle, ie hunting for physically and psychologically gratifying activities.
There are people who mistake high octane living and things like alcohol, drugs, and risky behaviour as signs of sx. Except that you’re talking about physical and psychological stimulation, which is tied to sp. Mistyping as sx-dominant, sometimes additionally sp-blind because of a need for partying and engaging with people. Add to that stuff like extreme sports but that too is a way of engaging with sp through challenging the body. When taken to the extreme, it’s a type of anti-sp: testing the sp-neurosis of survival and outlasting.
Sx is a more ethereal orientation towards chemistry in the broadest sense of the word. Hang ups around your sexual attractiveness - moreso than sx-second or sx-last - and prioritising chemistry above all. Sp is not sx.
1w9 sx/sp.
Instinctual stack: social
Social is the most misunderstood. People self-typing as social blinds, while aware of social dynamics. Then claim they’re sexual dominants, because “so intense”. Social dominants can be intense and like a siren (the one on top of a fire engine. not Ariel): desperate for validation so they suck the oxygen out. Also turn neurotic when social roles aren’t set, because playful connecting isn’t something they’re familiar with. The biggest blunders are by soc-doms, not soc-blinds.

How do find your instinct stack? Apparently I'm a type 6 but I don't know where to go from there
Generally I think the descriptions of each instinct in combination with each type are clearest early on, but with type 6 a big part of that is what’s called phobia and counterphobia, and it is possible, although uncommon, to be more “phobic” or “counterphobic” than your first instinct would suggest. Enneagram theory’s reason for that is tritype, but I suggest not getting into that yet. Just consider both the instincts in themselves and the ways they interact with your type.
Your first instinct isn’t necessarily something you like – in fact, it’s the most likely to cause distress. It feels like an important need. It asks for time and energy. The second instinct is the most balanced, and engaged with more loosely. The last feels like something you’re deeply deficient in, but also kind of unimportant – “oh well, I’ll manage without that” – at least directly/in the moment. It may be experienced as pressure from others.

Enneagram instinct stacks as elements
in the loosely classical or RPG sense. Inspired by and partly based on enneasite.com/the-stackings/
SX/SO: Fire, both warm and burning, spreading, challenging, a beacon
SO/SX: Water, fluid, adaptable, a river connecting, facilitating trade, the sea, wide and deep
SP/SX: Lightning, distant but potent, engagement in sudden, intense flashes, energy flowing to the earth
SP/SO: Earth, cold but gentle, grounded, practical
SO/SP: Wind, can be both gentle and forceful, cold and pleasant, lofty, hard to pin down
SX/SP: Ice, both cool and cold, intense, sharp, can melt dramatically

This really helped me.
Russ said that there’s enormous shame associated with the blind spot variant. A sense of deficiency, being far behind, less of a person. The deepest fears about the self are in this domain. You feel like you need remedial help. You’re not practiced in this area.
On the other hand, one takes the dominant instinct as a given. Thinks that everyone should be this way. And are sometimes surprised that everyone else isn’t. In a relationship, if you share the dominant instinct, you’re both going in the same direction, so this gives stability to the relationship.
Russ said that if you address the blind spot you will go up the levels of health faster. It brings balance. However, regarding the last instinct, there’s a tendency to resist and procrastinate. Or make an end-run around it. But if you deal with it, then things can land in the world.
