"......" Keith shifts his weight awkwardly, not able to meet Lance's curious blue eyes; however, he was making great progress in his staring contest with the floor. "It such a pointless, commercialized holiday-- I don't celebrate it. At /all/, but..." He trailed off, glancing up at the blue paladin shyly before nuzzling his cheek. Lips moved by his ear to whisper his mission. "... Happy Valentines Day, Lance."
Lance knew exactly what day it was, even though they were inspace. For the sake of everyoneâs Circadian rhythms if nothing else, Pidge andHunk had adjusted the lighting in the castle to reflect the Earthâs cycle.Assuming their second-to-tick conversions were correct, the date back on Earthcouldnât be off by more than a few hours. Lance had made his own calendar thatheâd shoved in a drawer, filling in the dates with birthdays, holidays, his momand dadâs wedding anniversary (twenty-five years now), the original Sparkyâsdue date, his cousinâs quinceañeraâŠ
All these moments that he was missing. Â
Theyâd mostly sorted out their feelings by now, but Lancestill felt out of depth when it came to Keith. It wasnât until his boyfriendsaid commercialized that he made theconnection. He couldnât help but chuckle as he rolled his eyes; of course Keithwould hate such a frivolous holiday if he could find fault in the perfection thatwas Hilary Duff. Â
As soon as he registered Keith nuzzling his cheek, the image of that shy glance burning itself into his memory, Lance fell silent. And when Keith whispered in his ear? He couldnât be blamed for the shiver that coursed through him.Â
Maybe there were some moments that he wasnât missing at all.
When Keith pulled back, Lance leaned forward and gave Keith a quick peck on the cheek, arms circling loosely around his waist. He tried for a suavesmile, but he could feel how red his ears were, so he doubted he pulled it off.
âHappy Valentineâs Day, Keith.â Abandoning that attempt at asuave smile, he offered a familiar grin instead. âAs long as you celebrate the real holiday the day after, when the evils of commercialization give us that glorious chocolate sale.â
