COFFEE ( Computer Online Forensic Evidence Extractor ) is a forensic toolkit developed by Microsoft. Containing more than 150 tools, many cases have been cited to have used this tool to solve cases of child pornography, etc. COFEE allows you to capture important computer evidence at the scene of cybercrime investigations without special forensic expertise. Volatile data are very important in a digital crime investigation and COFEE does exactly the analysis of this data. Microsoft is working with Interpol and the National White Collar Crime (NW3C ) to provide COFEE at no cost to law enforcement agencies in 187 countries around the world. The INTERPOL and NW3C are also working with Florida State University and University College Dublin to continue research and development that will help ensure that COFEE meets the needs of law enforcement in accordance with the technological evolution. On November 6, 2009, copies of Microsoft COFEE were leaked onto various torrent websites. Analysis of the leaked tool indicates that it is largely a wrapper around other utilities previously available to investigators. Microsoft confirmed the leak; however a spokesperson for the firm said "We do not anticipate the possible availability of COFEE for cybercriminals to download and find ways to ‘build around' to be a significant concern". It is not possible to download the software from the Internet (The original).
