Finally made some #gilding progress on this beast today. As happy as I am to be making this scroll for a friend, I do fear sometimes that I may have bitten off more than I can chew. I'm eternally grateful that my client is gracious enough to allow work on this one to go slowly. The tan shiny stuff is called #instacoll and is a good modern base for gold leaf. It's basically a liquid plastic that dries smooth and shiny, making the gold look just as good one it is laid on top. I've switched over to it because my gesso kept molding or drying out, or both, and this was going to be easier to keep.
