With this bathroom the customer went with a hardwired dimmable system using a LinDrive transformer, ultra bright flexible LED strips, custom in-wall cable, and a compatible Lutron DVCL dimmer.

Measuring the available space for flex:

Start by measuring out the entire length of the space the flex strip will be mounted to. In this case you will need to find the measurements on the outside of the oval. When you find your measurement make sure to subtract 3” from the total to leave room for connections. In this job, since we are using only one side of the LED strip you can subtract 1.5” from the total.

Mounting options for LED strips:

When working with a mirror there are two ways we recommend mounting the LED strips. In this system we mounted the LED strip on the outside of the mirror with the LEDs pushing away from the mirror. This will allow us to keep the LED strip one long strip since it can follow the curve of the oval.

This project is two systems, the first is a 24v system using 24V 240ohm LED Strips, 18AWG in-wall rated cable, a motion sensor, and a 24v 3.75A plug-in power supply. The second system is a 12v RGB system highlighting the custom glass table top, using a 12v RGB flexible LED strip, 18AWG in-wall rated 4-conductor cable, RF RGB remote controller, and a 12v 2A plug-in power supply. Measuring the available space for the LED Strips:

The 24V white LED system has a few different places where we installed the LED strips. First we measured out the perimeter of the mirror to run an LED on the outside of the mirror. This unit also had two large rectangles sandblasted on the left and right side running length wise of the mirror. This allowed us to run two vertical LED strips in each rectangle. Like the last project we installed the LED tape into an aluminum extrusion and installed that on the back of the mirror the length of the sand blasted portion of the mirror.

Mounting options:

This customer provided a custom mirror with a section sandblasted out to let the light through. The customer provided an aluminum extrusion with the mirror to mount the LED strip into. This keeps any light from bleeding out the sides of the mirror and focuses the light to the sandblasted portion of the mirror. Sandblasting is a custom service that we do not provide, the customer brought the mirror to us already sandblasted.

This LED bathroom mirror light is configured in a plug and play system that is using a plug in power supply and a custom Super Bright flex strip.

Measuring the available space for the flex:

Start the project by measuring out the entire length of the area where the flex strip will be mounted. Once you have the full measurement of an area, you will need to subtract 3” in order to make room for the cable connectors on each side. In this job though, since there is only one connector being used, it would be ok to only subtract 1.5” from the total length.

Mounting options for flex strips:

For backlighting a mirror or fixture the flex can be mounted two different ways. The first option would be to have the flex strips mounted on the fixture facing out and away from the mirror/fixture. Mounting the flex this way allows the ability of only needing to use one long flex strip but it requires an area on the fixture for the flex to mount to. The second mounting option would be to have the flex strip mounted directly on the back of the mirror, facing back against the wall. This option would require four individual strips and cables to join them together because the flex does not turn around corners as well. However, this option tends to be more common because not all fixtures have a mounting option for the flex to run all the way around it. For this job, the first mounting option was used because the mirror had a backing on it that went all the way around in an even square and even pushed it away from the wall when it was hung up. Before mounting the flex you will want to clean the area, where you plan on placing the flex, with isopropyl alcohol to remove any dust or dirt.

This bar is configured in a hardwired system that is using an E-series transformer, a wall dimmer switch, interconnect cable and an Ultra Bright blue flex strip.

Start the project by measuring out the entire length of the area where the flex strip will be mounted. Once you have the full measurement of an area, you will need to subtract 3” in order to make room for the cable connectors on each side.

Mounting the flex strip:

Before mounting the flex you will want to clean the area, where you plan on placing the flex, with isopropyl alcohol to remove any dust or dirt. For this bar job, there was a channel that had been premade for this flex strip to go inside of. The flex strip was placed inside the channel facing out. Mounting the flex strip this way allowed the ability to use one long strip and have it bend around the corner without needing to use any interconnecting cable.
