"My lady." Amos allowed himself a smile to his good-sister, relieved beyond saying at the sight of an ally in strange halls. It was hard to replace his mask of affable, of untouched by the politics, now he had played his hand in the race for the small council, and to be free of it allowed him a rare moment of sincerity. "I am glad to see you are well, and gladder still for your presence here. I fear a great deal of us may have trepidation for the coming weeks." To have so many of them in one place again, to once again put all eggs into one basket. Perhaps he only spoke for himself, but it almost felt like a taunt. to the gods or to their enemies, he did not know. To have another who understood the weight that pressed into his shoulders, that he dragged behind himself with every step, eased the burden. "Were your travels smooth?"
