Slurs
Everyone remember,Ā ābug-manā is a racial slur. Call us Kreen or Tohr-Kreen. Or in our specific case Zik-Chil. If you must refer to us in less specific terms, call usĀ āinsect-manā (or in our case,Ā āinsect-womanā).
This is Insect Man from Spider-Manās Tangled Web #10 by Kaare Andrews. Ā Heās from an in-universe Superhero cartoon that bares a more than slight resemblance to Spider-Man.
It should be noted that this issue was published about a year and a half before AraƱa debuted and I find it kind of hilarious that the guyās costume included a T-shirt, goggles, a backpack, and spikey-hair. Ā So yeah in my head-cannon now Anya prior to becoming a superhero was a major Insect-Man fangirl and modeled her first attempt at Ā a superhero costume after him. Ā Also she and Kamala Khan have probably exchanged Insect Man Fan-Fics at some point.
