Dec 2011, End of a weird year, start of a another weird year. Winter = P90X and Insanity Stop for now.
Kinda inspired by bestshapeever. But actually stopped 2 weeks or so ago and going back to the gym. It's weird, I went 6 + months without going, and now  I am going again. But this time actually doing stuff.
Not exactly doing strong lifts, but maybe it's my amalgam of starting stregnth by Rippetoe and running. I don't know about completely stopping isolation exercises... however, doing dead lifts, squats, benching, chin ups/pull ups, overhead barbell press and dips seems to take care of it.Â
Speaking of which, first time doing a barbell deadlift EVER last Friday. First time doing proper barbell squats EVER. Been years since I benched with a barbell as well.Â
It was fantastic.Â
I used to hate doing squats... P90X and Insanity helped with that. Now, I am not afraid to do them. I never knew the benefits of a deadlift until recently either.Â
My mind is blown all over again.Â
I love that P90X gave me the confidence, endurance, and strength to begin this properly.Â
I love that Insanity has helped me with running, so that I can actually run 3 miles without dry heaving.Â
And this is the most important part...
I love love love that NOONE in my Gold's Gym uses the squat racks or power squat racks. So I am seemingly free to overhead press, deadlift and squat as much as I want without idiots crowding and waiting for a "machine".Â
That really is the best part.Â
After last Friday's workout, my legs were sore and my lower back felt sore like it has never felt. Recovered in two days luckily, and hit it again yesterday. Recovering nicely today.Â
