   ❛   yeah ,  you  look  the  type .   ❜    and  she’s  never  been  known  to hold  her  tongue  in  the  presence  of  men ,  no  doubt  a   propensity  learned  from  her  mother .  while  she  remains  delicate with  her  words ,  she  never  bothers  to  go  unexpressed ,  even   at  the  peril  of  another .  a  moment  aside ,  she  taps  her   finger  against  the  glass  in  her  hand ,  watching  bubbles  swirl ,  and  escape  to  the  top .

 because  that’s  ,  like  ,  the  first  thing  that  even  comes  up  in  his  head  to  say  .  nice  job  almost  screwing  it  up  with  your  lame  joke  ,  david  .  real  nice  going  .  but  ,  uh  ,  the  thing  is                that  joke  worked  ,  and  as  long  as  a  joke  works  ,  it  doesn’t  matter  what  else  surrounds  it  .

 she  looks  …  regal  .  the  only  word  to  even  begin  to  describe  a  woman  of  her  stature  .  she’s  regal  ,  something  entirely  otherworldly  ,  ethereal  in  delicate  balance  ,  like  the  way  the  thin  shimmer  of  silver  lines  the  surface  of  her  wine  .  watch  them  pop  ,  and  wait  for  the  tight  twist  of  fate’s  hand  .  he  could  read  her  mind  ,  get  a  feel  for  what  she  wants  ,  what  she  likes  to  hear  ,  what  words  can  possibly  be  made  (  cherish  this  throat  ,  dear  ,  and  use  it  well  )  .  upper  business  :  let  her  bite  .
