well of course he’d noticed daichi had been absent more recently. or, at least it’s obvious to him that he’d notice something like that, but he supposes judging by that clearly surprised pause that it might not be something daichi was really expecting. he had said he didn’t think dazai cares for him... hm. he’s not asking where daichi had been to put him on the spot, and he could refuse to answer or lie if he so chose, dazai just wanted to be sure daichi was alright. but his life is his own, and dazai’s not trying to control him... perhaps that comes off the same as being unconcerned? hmm. he’ll have to work on that, then.
hearing chuuya’s name is surprising, though. at least kiko makes sense - he knows kiko and daichi go out for lunch together sometimes, and they are coworkers, so it’s a fairly obvious match, but chuuya? that’s... well, he supposes it makes sense, provided chuuya doesn’t blame daichi at all for dazai having left. which it seems he must not, or else daichi wouldn’t be hanging around him. “... i see. but yes, i want you around - i just don’t want you to think i’m forcing you to always stay by my side or something. you’re free to come and go as you please, but i do notice when you’re gone, and i would like to spend more time with you, if you want that.”
