(1/2) Hi, a fellow INFJ here! I have been wondering lately if jumping around in things to occupy ourselves is a common INFJ thing to do. By that I mean I feel like doing something, I sit down and do that for like an hour, and then I have this other thought about what I suddenly feel like doing and then I abandon the first thing and go on to the next one. It kinda feels like it's intuitive, like I am watching a film and a thought just occures to me, and it can distract me from the present.
(2/2) Do you experience something similar? Or am I just being impulsive? I’d like to hear your thoughts about this!
I definitely do all these! It’s like non-controllable sparks of thoughts, right? I feel ya.
INFJs are very quick when it comes to thinking and we are able to analyze lots of things in a short amount of time. And we always need something to think of. Therefore, our thought process is always like one thing triggering other thing and it goes on and on and on.
We also focus more on our own thoughts than real world stimulation. (That’s why we become “oblivious” time to time). Thus, when things get less interesting, we naturally pay attention to our thought process and get distracted.
In other words, it’s our introverted intuition and inferior extroverted sensing.
I have no problem with get things done as long as I know my priorities. For me, multitasking helps a lot because it divides my attention and slows down my thought process. For example, I always put some music while I’m working or studying. But I think all INFJs eventually get used to having fast and strong sparks of thoughts and develop their own way to handle it :)
